If you happened to miss my post on the Fight the Fat Talk in the New Year, be sure to check it out by clicking here. As a quick recap, I’ve partnered with Special K, Burst Media and Tyra Banks on their fabulous campaign to help women #FightFatTalk so as to create more empowered, happy and healthy women by abolishing this damaging phenomena that we engage in daily.
From idle chatter amongst friends to our own inner dialogue, we are our own worst critics. From our hair to our nails to our weight, we nitpick ourselves so much that it becomes our truth. Our weight or looks are never good enough and we play the comparison game all day long.
But it needs to end as it is hurtful and outside of the obvious side effects from self size bashing, it can lead to depression, anger and a whole host of other things that cause us to take our eyes off of what;s really important. Our health and our happiness!
Sure, it’s easier said then done (I am totally guilty of self body bashing) but it must be not only acknowledged but it needs to be put back in pandora’s box and buried for good. However, we must recognize when we do it and start to decrease these words and conversations with ourselves as well as others and replace them with words of love, happiness and positivity. We can’t all be size 2’s and frankly, on many body types, it’s just not possible.
Let’s focus on our health and happiness this year instead of “the fat”! Check out this awesome video that introduces and showcases the #FightFatTalk campaign!
Here’s to a healthier new year, both physically as well as mentally and as a society! #FightFatTalk
