Working out is something we think of as an outdoors activity. We go out for a run, or a brisk walk through the woods, and we come back to get a smoothie or a protein shake. A bag of oranges or two could easily weigh a kilo and a half, which is a very basic dumbbell weight. Even a bag of flour in each hand is going to do your muscles the world of good while you lunge back and forth! Not to mention just how effective water can be when you fill up a bag – it’s much easier to adjust the level of weight and intensity with a bag of water too.
Even Video Games are Prioritizing Movement!
We think of video games as stationary items that require little to no movement; just fingers across the keyboard and one hand on the mouse and you’re set. However, video games are coming into their own more and more, and there’s more games out there that require you to physically move around and break a sweat than ever before.
A lot of us had a Nintendo Wii back in the day, and there were a lot of sports and fitness related games on there – if you still own a Wii, why not dig it out and turn it on? Get back to boxing with the remote and a nuncheck, and even think about running on the sport for 10 minutes as your character goes for a jog on the screen.
Plus, then comes the VR revolution. A lot of games that use a headset and specialised controllers require you to move in place, whip your arms around for minutes on end, and most of all, get you off of your butt in order to play a game! So, why not think about purchasing the tech necessary for a gaming session like this? It’ll be a lot of fun!
Of course, something like a VR headset is going to cost you a hefty penny, so make sure you’re serious about a purchase like this. If you’re going to drop upwards of $500 on a bit of equipment for a gaming system, it probably means you’re already interested in and love games themselves.
