How A Massage Can Help Manage Stress And Anxiety

de-stress tipsWe all go through periods of stress and anxiety from time to time. These are relatively common issues, and many people manage to deal with them with no lasting ill-effects.

But some people experience more stress and anxiety than others. Furthermore, the frequency and severity of these occurrences tend to increase over time.

Stress and working at home

Nowadays, with more and more people having to work at home, stress, and anxiety–and the symptoms they cause–are becoming increasingly more prevalent. Home offices aren’t usually as ergonomic as corporate workplaces, making them uncomfortable to work in. When you are hunched over for long periods, you are more likely to develop stress-related conditions.

Stress and anxiety are known to cause physical and mental health issues, some of which can be severe. Headaches, back issues, joint and muscle pain, and hyperacidity are all associated with chronic stress.

Massage versus medication

Many people instinctively turn to pharmaceutical products to treat these conditions. But these can cause further problems. A much safer alternative in many cases is massage therapy.

Therapeutic massages often provide many of the same benefits as over-the-counter and prescription medications. They can even be more effective in some cases and won’t cause unpleasant side effects.

How massages help control stress and anxiety

How can massage therapy help you deal with stress and anxiety? Here are some of the benefits of therapeutic massages:

Enhances your mood

Massage therapy releases chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine into the brain. These substances produce a feeling of pleasure and contentment, which reduces anxiety and lowers stress levels.

Even a single massage therapy session can improve your mood considerably. By getting regular massages, you could enjoy many of the benefits of mood-enhancing drugs without the harmful side effects.

Relieves pain

Pain and stress are usually closely related. Anxiety often causes health issues that result in varying degrees of pain. And when you are in constant pain, it is almost impossible to rid yourself of stress.

A therapeutic massage can reduce pain in the affected area. This could make you feel more relaxed and better able to manage your pain symptoms.

Reduces work-related stress

A lot of stress can be attributed to work-related pressure, staying up late, and sitting in the same position for extended periods. Getting a massage is a great way to loosen up tight muscles and clear up knots caused by long work hours. Periodic massage sessions will also relax your mind and improve your ability to concentrate.

Increases energy

Do you routinely reach for a soda, an energy drink, or a cup of coffee when you need an energy boost? Consider getting a massage instead!

A therapeutic massage provides a similar energy boost as sugar and caffeine but won’t cause any unpleasant aftereffects. If you want a quick energy boost but prefer to avoid the crash that comes after drinking coffee or soda, a massage could be what you need.

These are only a few of the benefits that therapeutic massages provide. There are many more advantages to a massage, including easing depression and anxiety and speeding up muscle recovery. So the next time you feel frazzled at home or in the office, consider reducing your stress and anxiety by getting a massage!

Good post, thank you for it. You are right, now a good massage can help you get rid of sore muscles or even get peace of mind and good rest. I often sign up at https://naturologycentre.com/services/massage-therapy/ to get both options

Proper massage helps to remove excess fluid from the body, as well as to remove the painful sensations that are usually caused by the accumulation of lactic acid in the body, read customer feedback on Ancient Dynasty Spa. At the same time, all the recovery processes of the body are accelerated in this case, which is also important for excellent health and excellent physical shape.
