Who doesn’t love fried rice? Even veggies can enjoy a flavorful bowl of veggie fried rice so I’ve made a tangy, sweeter, healthier, veaganier twist on the traditional rice bowl with my friends at Kikkoman! How about trying a hearty bowl of my Tofu Teriyaki Vegetable Fried Rice this week! It’s great served warm and is also fun for leftovers all week long!

Starting as a simple mixture of soy sauce and spices, teriyaki has been popular since it was first created in Japan. The lustrous sheen of the sauce inspired the name “teriyaki,” or glaze-broiled. Japanese-Americans in Hawaii added fresh ginger, brown sugar, pineapple juice and green onions to produce the teriyaki we know and love.

Brush Kikkoman Teriyaki on your veggies or tofu before cooking to enhance flavor and add a tangy, savory flavor. Or use it in fun recipes like my fried rice below! It’s tasty, tangy and made with brown rice or quinoa, it’s a healthier choice but loses none of the fun and flavor!

Quick Tofu Teriyaki Vegetable Fried Rice

kikkoman teriyaki sauce

  • 4 cups cooked brown rice or quinoa
  • 3 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 block firm tofu, pressed, drained and cubed
  • 3 tbsp Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame or vegetable oil

making vegan fried riceHeat sesame oil in wok or large pan on medium-high heat.

Add rice and frozen vegetables.

Stir fry for 8-10 minutes until rice starts to become browned.

Add in tofu and Teriyaki sauce and simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat.

Serve hot and enjoy!
