Cycling can help you lose weight because you exert energy when cycling. Maybe you can switch car rides to the grocery store into cruiser bike rides. The right bike size will help you gain all the benefits mentioned above. If you buy the wrong bike size, it may do more harm than good. Cruiser bikes are sized differently. It even has the option of being customized to suit each rider more perfectly.

Cruiser bikes are sized according to wheel diameter. Here’s a quick guide of the right wheel diameter according to your height:

  • At least 6’3” – 29 inches wheel diameter
  • 5’1” to 6’2” – 26 inches wheel diameter
  • Lower than 5’1” – 16, 20, or 24 inches wheel diameter

The frame design of cruiser bikes will differ for men and women. A step-through frame is used for women for a lower standover height. Men’s cruiser bikes usually have straight-across top tubes.

Material

The frame of cruiser bikes can be made from either steel or aluminum. Steel frames are heavier than aluminum ones. The metal also rusts. Its advantage is that it is much cheaper than aluminum frames.
