healthy holiday tipsTaking care of yourself is a constant task, but never more so than during the holidays. After all, the holidays are all about spending time with family and friends and doing the things we love, so it can be a bit too easy to get carried away. Whether you’re guilty of having a few too many eggnogs this Christmas or stuffing yourself full of Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers, it’s important to make sure you do what you can to stick to your regular, healthy routine during the holidays.

The good news is, there are lots of ways you can be conscious of your health while still enjoying the holidays. Between taking small steps to make sure you aren’t overdoing it too much to finding a way to help burn off some of the food you’ve been gorging yourself with, you can find ways to stay healthy during the holidays without too much trouble.

Don’t Be Too Excessive

At the end of the day, one of the best parts about the holidays is the fact that you can deviate from your normal habits and enjoy a short period of excessive eating and drinking. Everybody loves a quality holiday meal, but that doesn’t mean you should stuff yourself full of food until you regret the decision. This is why our first tip for keeping yourself somewhat healthy this holiday season is to limit yourself to some degree and avoid microwave food.

You don’t have to avoid certain foods altogether, but you definitely need to make sure you aren’t doing too much damage during the holidays. If you’re going to enjoy seconds, make sure your second plate is a little bit smaller than your first. If you’re going to drink, try to limit it so you aren’t taking in thousands of calories in alcohol and mixers.

Choose Your Battles

When it comes to holiday food, we all have our favorites. One good way to make sure you aren’t overdoing it with holiday dinner is to make sure you pick a single item or two that you enjoy most and going light on the rest of the food options. If you can’t get enough macaroni and cheese but aren’t the biggest fan of mashed potatoes, you can always take a large helping of macaroni and cut back on your potatoes. The important thing to remember is that you shouldn’t be going all out on everything.

The same can be said when it comes to alcohol. You might want to spend your entire holiday break drinking, eating and sleeping, but you’ll need to cut back on your food consumption if you want to enjoy alcohol freely. After all, a single drink can have almost as many calories as a meal.

Burn It Off

Eating and drinking less is a great way to keep yourself healthy during the holidays. If you’re planning on stuffing your face during Christmas and New Year’s, you’ll definitely want to make sure you get plenty of exercise so you aren’t packing on extra weight. This is especially true if you plan on eating and drinking a lot during the holidays because that’s going to increase your caloric intake that much more.

Unfortunately, exercising enough to burn off all the extra calories we take in during the holidays simply isn’t the best option for many of us. The holidays are a busy time, and nobody wants to miss out on the festive fun. Fortunately, there are products that can help you manage the extra food you eat during the holidays without having to add more items to your busy schedule. Carb Bloc is a supplement that helps your body block carbohydrate digestion to help you lose weight or keep you from packing on pounds when you’re eating lots of carbs. This is especially helpful during the holidays when there are potatoes, noodles, breads and tons of sweets to keep you absolutely stuffed full of carbs. If you’re looking for a helping hand when it comes to holiday health, Carb Bloc is exactly what you need.

The holidays can be a stressful time for many different reasons, but your health shouldn’t be one of them. This holiday season make sure you keep your health in mind and enjoy everything in moderation. Not only will this keep you healthier, but it will also make it easier for you to transition from the excess of the holidays to your daily life.
