stressThere are plenty of things in life that can cause us to get stressed and even depressed. Here we provide some simple advice to managing your stress so you don’t land up with burnout which is difficult to recover from. So be prepared and learn more about burnout so that you can tackle the everyday worries with ease.

Your own lifejacket first

An easy way to burnout is trying to please everyone around us. But remember that in order to be efficient and useful in the office, you need to look after your health and wellbeing first. As they say when you are flying, put your own lifejacket on before helping others. This principle can be applied to many things in life. Neglecting your own health is detrimental in the long run. Implement self-care rituals that nurture and soothe you. This could be taking a calming walk in nature after work, or watching your favorite box set. We all have different preferences when it comes to self-care so explore what works best for you.

Surround yourself with beautiful things

Plants, décor, light and fresh air can all be beneficial to create an environment around you that is pleasant to work in. Think about how you can improve your environment to make it more enjoyable to be in. Make sure thaT space is neat and tidy – seek professional help such as the office cleaners ThinkFM. Buy yourself a desk plant. Find an oil diffuser you like the smell of. Buy a cushion for your office chair to make yourself more comfortable. Anything that’s going to make the office nicer to work in will make you want to come back day after day.

Communicate with people around you

Communication is the key to good relationships. If something has upset you in the office or you’re struggling with something, try to see if you can talk to someone about it. There may be solutions that you haven’t thought of that are easy to implement.

Get creative

One great way to de-stress is to get creative. Sometimes we get stuck in the way we are doing things and a good way to get out of this rut is to explore creative ways to do things. Think about creating vision boards with magazine clippings, colorful paper, and pens. Arrange a dance class for the team. Moving your body can be a very creative exercise. Get into groups and brainstorm problems you may be having in the office.

Take breaks

It may seem obvious, but breaks are good for your health. Take a step back from your work and stretch your legs. Go outside if you can and get some sunlight on your skin. Do some simple breathing exercises. Meditate if you like for a few minutes. There are plenty of apps that you can download that guide you through a basic meditation, so look out for these if meditation helps you to de-stress. Book a massage too if your muscles are feeling stiff and achy. All these things are good for our mental wellbeing.

Eat those greens

Yes, yes, we know. You hear this everywhere! But that’s because it is important. Fuelling yourself with the right nutrition can help you perform better and feel more energetic. Snacking on healthy foods can help with energy slumps you may have during the day. Be careful of how much caffeine you are drinking as too much can be bad for your health. Avoid fast food and sugar and try to eat a balanced diet with lots of vegetables and some fruit.

If you find that you are not getting your daily dose through eating, then taking supplements is an option to ensure that your body is getting the nutrition it needs. We found expresshealthshop.com which has supplement reviews useful to find out more about various products.

Protect your mental health

If you feel you are taking strain, consider speaking to a counselor or therapist. This can give you much-needed perspective on problems you may be facing in your personal or working life. Looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical health so try not to neglect this. Remember to spend time with family and friends and try to remove toxic relationships from your life that cause huge amounts of stress. It’s all about balance.

Thank you for sharing this! As for burnout, my rule is “get rest before you get tired”. It really works well 🙂
