reverse the signs of agingNowadays more than 60% of women aged between 21 and 65 say they would prefer having a more youthful-looking face than a more youthful-looking body.

Therefore if you are getting worried of the fine lines and wrinkles that have started showing on your face, just know that you are not alone.

While this is true, some companies have come up with best anti aging wrinkle creams and procedures, thus siphoning millions, if not billions, from the otherwise desperate individuals fighting wrinkles and aging.

Forget the expensive products, surgeries and injections; the best way to age gracefully is going back to Mother Nature: Eating the right diet.

I bet you have heard many times that “you are what you eat.” This simply implies that your skin too relies on the kind of nutrients you feed it on a daily basis.

Research studies have actually indicated that it is possible to delay aging and get an improvement in skin condition by using various anti-aging strategies such as

  • Skin care
  • Photo-protection and systemic antioxidants
  • Use of topical pharmacological agents with anti-aging properties
  • Using Visible light devices for skin rejuvenation, resurfacing and tightening
  • Dermal fillers and skin rejuvenation with injections
  • Hormones Replacement Therapy
  • Invasive procedures (surgeries) and chemical peels among others.

While all these strategies and processes have been proved to work out in preventing extrinsic aging, the Key to graceful aging is proper dieting.

We have gathered a number of foods to be included in or excluded from your anti aging diet for you to grow a youthful skin as you age.

1. Avoid inflammatory foods

You need to cut out on inflammatory foods because they are pro-aging.Packaged, processed, sugar, dairy, and fast foods fall under this category and taking a lot of them makes you prone to fine facial skin lines and wrinkles which are two major signs of aging.

In place of using sugar, it is advisable to use honey which is anti-viral and antioxidant at the same time.

It does not cause inflammation in the body as sugar does. This makes it a good choice for your skin. You may also decide to use honey as a face mask!

2. Foods rich in omega fatty acids

This will guarantee hydrating your skin from the inside out thus preventing drying of the skin and the appearance of wrinkles. You must therefore consider taking healthy fats and oils rich in omega fatty acids 3, 6 and 9 which eventually become part of the skin cell walls and a healthy and hydrated skin for that matter.

Examples of these foods for anti aging that are rich in omega fatty acids include; walnuts, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, salmon flaxseeds and chia seeds among others.

3. Anti aging foods for skin rich in amino acids

Damages to collagen and elastin in the skin are responsible for major signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging of the skin and fine lines on the forehead. Taking plenty of proteins will supply the body with necessary amino acids that will repair and rebuild the damages thus countering aging signs.

Fish, eggs, grains, nuts, meat and some seeds are good sources of essential amino acids that prevent aging signs.

4. Leafy green vegetables

Vegetables are important to keep your skin hydrated and healthy all the time.

You may take the leafy green vegetables as a whole or blend them to get green juice which is easy to absorb and supply the body with the nutrients needed to keep the skin healthy and youthful looking.

Kale, spinach, broccoli and mustard greens are good examples vegetables you should consider.

5. Phytoceramides

Production of Ceramides- molecules that keep the skin firm slows down. The epidermis- outer layer of the skin- on the other hand becomes weaker and thinner making it highly susceptible to wrinkles and dehydration.

Phytoceramides are plant-based ceramides that can be found in wheat germ, spinach, some seeds and brown rice. Taking such foods will thus help protect the epidermis thus maintaining a youthful appearance.

6. Antioxidants

Are you spending too much time on the sun? This could be the cause for your aging skin. Direct sun rays create free radicals that can permanently kill all healthy skin cells. This means there will be no regeneration of the skin.

The same can be said when you are taking an unhealthy diet. In the quest to get rid of the aging signs, take an anti-aging diet such as antioxidant rich foods that contain carotenoids.

Green tea is a good example with lots of antioxidant power to help proper growth of cells and maintain a healthy life cycle.

Tomatoes, kale, carrots and pumpkin are just a few of the foods that can help reverse the damage from direct sunlight and unhealthy diet.

7. Potassium-rich foods for anti aging

Taking sodium-rich foods may have various effects like dark circles under your eyes. The remedy for such a condition is taking enough of the anti-aging fruits and vegetables as well as nuts, beans, potatoes, meat, legumes, fish and poultry.

All these foods are potassium-rich and can easily counter the sodium. It is also advisable to cut down on your salt intake to be able to achieve a healthy and youthful-looking skin especially the face.

8. Fermented foods

Probiotic-rich foods are good for a healthy and youthful-looking skin. Probiotics are responsible in regulating digestion and adding the good bacteria back in the gut.

This will in turn help the skin to look healthy and young-looking. Kimchi, Kefir, yogurt and fermented vegetables are rich in probiotics and will thus help your skin from aging.

9. Rooibos tea

This type of tea is rich in polyphenols that protect the skin from aging. The tea is thus used to hydrate the skin making it look health and young. Unlike coffee which dehydrates the skin, you may choose to go for rooibos tea.

10. Anti aging fruits

Fruits are always known to be rich in essential vitamins that allow your body to grow and develop in a healthy way.

Besides, the vitamins also play a crucial role in boosting various body functions like metabolism, digestion and immunity. In general, all these functions are for the better good of your skin making it look dewy and hydrated-free of wrinkles.

Oranges, avocados, apples, pineapple, berries and tomatoes are good samples of the anti aging fruits you need to always include in your diet.

Conclusion

While natural aging is real and genetically determined, aging resulting from negligence to observe the right lifestyle can be prevented.

Observing the right anti ageing diet and taking plenty of water can be the game changer. For better results, you can also try Stemuderm to prevent the aging and it might help you to get a winkle free and rejuvenated skin.

Look back into your lifestyle and the answer to your youthful-looking skin is found there.

Take the right anti aging foods for skin as part of your lifestyle and you will be able to easily prevent extrinsic aging of your skin with wrinkles, dark spots, sagging of the skin and fine lines on your face.
