5 Reasons to Regularly Change Your Workout

healthy in college exerciseWhether you’re enjoying a New-Year fuelled health kick, have made a resolution to be a little healthier in 2019, or are simply looking for new and inspiring ways to keep fit, altering the way you exercise can be important. Here are five compelling reasons to regularly change your workout routine.

Get Better Results

When doing the same exercise over a period of time, your body becomes more efficient at your regular routine. While this may sound good, it actually means your body requires less energy to complete your workout. So, if you want to get better results, be that weight loss or increasing muscle tone, switch up your routine every six weeks. This prevents muscles from adapting to movements and keeps things challenging, helping you achieve your fitness goals.

Stay Active and Motivated

You may have workout related objectives but following the same workout routine everyday may not be the most effective way to achieve them. This is because monotony can become boring, making it difficult to stay motivated and keep on track. Changing how you workout could help you enjoy staying active, look forward to your workout and accomplish your goals.

Prevent Injuries

Repetitive strain injury can occur when your body completes the same movements over and over. How can you avoid this? In addition to allowing sufficient recovery time, change your workout. This could prevent you from over using one particular muscle group or joint, instead allowing you to work new areas and reduce the chances of injury.

Broaden Your Interests

Perhaps you always go running or attend regular swimming sessions. You may still enjoy this activity but there’s no harm in expanding your interests and knowledge. Be it a new class or form of exercise, switching can keep your workout fresh and exciting. You could even find a new and exciting hobby, meet likeminded people and expand your social circle.

Have More Fun

Struggling to complete those 15 minutes on the treadmill? Finding it difficult to get through all of your sets? Doing same thing day-in day-out can become repetitive. Fortunately, exercise need not be mundane. So, why not have some fun, vary things up and keep your workout interesting? You could change up your routine with some new strength movements, get out and have fun on a Boosted board, or rave at a Clubbercise class complete with glowsticks.

Working out is an important part of staying healthy, but simply following the same routine each time you exercise may not be enough. Try something new and you could have more fun while seeing better results.
