5 Things Dental Veneers Can Do For Your Smile

perfect smileDental veneers are a layer of material that is then fitted over a tooth. And while most of us assume veneers and crowns are basically the same things; there are a few differences.

You should consider high-quality crowns if you have tooth concerns such as discoloration, chips, cracks, breaks, decaying, or skew teeth. The most notable difference between veneers and crowns is that crowns cover the whole surface of a tooth, and veneers are bonded to the front of a tooth. However, crowns are also 1mm thicker in diameter.

That said, veneers are generally suitable for less severe tooth concerns. And while your dentist will recommend the most suitable option for you, these are the main benefits of dental veneers. You can also consider getting Invisalign in turlock.

Covering Up Stubborn Stains And Discoloration

Veneers and crowns are both suitable for fixing the issue of stains and discoloration. However, if you notice tooth discoloration, it would be wise first to consider teeth whitening, as this is a more straightforward procedure that can often be done at home.

That said, professional teeth whitening is still a better option. The procedure will include a few protective steps to safeguard your teeth and gums from the whitening solution. Then you can expect your dentist to apply a whitening gel to your teeth, use a laser or light for roughly 20 minutes.

However, if teeth whitening doesn’t help, veneers or crowns are a suitable solution.

Adjust Tooth Shape

If you have a crooked tooth, in some cases, a veneer can assist with altering the shape of your tooth. And because skew teeth are prevalent, this is one of the more prominent reasons people opt for veneers.

Filling Tooth Gaps

It wouldn’t be wise to have a tooth removed and another porcelain tooth fitted just to mend the issue of a tooth gap. The more suitable approach is a veneer, or crowns will be recommended if the gap is severe.

Protecting Cracked Or Chipped Teeth

A cracked tooth can be painful, and it will eventually become unsightly as bacteria can build up within the crack if there is no measure of protection to prevent this. And brushing is often not enough.

The same is true for chips. And the ideal solution is a veneer to provide your chipped or cracked tooth with enough protection. However, in more severe cases, a crown or extraction might be recommended by your dentists.

Improving Your Smile

With everything that veneers can offer, the overall reason to consider this procedure is to improve the appearance of your smile.

Whether to fix a chip, an unsightly crack, or a discolored tooth, veneers can quickly transform your smile. And because it’s no secret that the health and appearance of your teeth have a notable impact on your self-confidence. And this is true for everyone.

For this reason, caring for the health of your gums and teeth is essential. You should never neglect a dental checkup, especially if you have a crack or any other concern as minor as a tooth issue can seem at first; dental problems gradually worsen over time if neglected.
