4 Reasons to Make Cycling Part of Your Daily Routine

cycling for healthCycling is one of the most popular sports and means of transportation in the world. It’s still not part of most people’s daily routine, however. It may be something we do at the gym from time to time or for leisure with friends or family. But there are tons of benefits to cycling every day and everyone should consider them if they’re serious about getting or staying in shape. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why you should make cycling part of your daily routine.

It’s a Great Way to Get Some Fresh Air

One of the reasons why you should consider cycling every day is because it’s a great way to enjoy the great outdoors and get some fresh air. You also can vary your trips, so you get to see something new every day.

One thing you could do is pin a destination on Google maps and get there. You can choose to make it a round trip or get back via public transit. This is a great way to explore your city while burning a few calories in the process.

It’s Great for Interval Training

Interval training is the hot new thing in fitness right now, and it’s a truly revolutionary way to exercise. In short, HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is about alternating short bouts of intense activity with periods of lower intensity. What that does is that it allows you to burn energy well after you stopped your sessions, as it will affect your metabolism.

With a bike, you can easily go from sprint to casual riding. You don’t have to time yourself. You could simply do it instinctively. Or you could be stricter if you want to. Either way, you could be surprised by the results you get, and you won’t have to spend hours on the stationary anymore.

Low Intensity

Another great thing about cycling is that it’s so much gentler on the joints than things like jogging, for instance. A lot of people think they’re doing their bodies a service by running every day, but there’s only so much wear your joints can take.

With a bike, you aren’t putting as much pressure on your joints. You can even go for a recumbent bike if you want to make it even more comfortable. There are tons of great recumbent bikes, both mobile and stationary, that you could try if you’re suffering from joint issues, are getting up there in age, or just because you want to preserve your joints.

Before you invest in a recumbent bike, however, we suggest you check out some reviews. You’ll be able to see some of the top rated models and choose the best one for you based on your needs and what you can afford.

It’s Easy to Integrate

Another reason why more people should take up cycling is because of how easily you can integrate it into your everyday activities. You could switch to riding a bicycle to work if you want to get all the benefits and have a more enjoyable commute. Depending on where your job is located, riding a bike coupled with public transit could be a much better solution.

If you have a subway where you live, you could easily ride your bike to the nearest station. In most cities, you are allowed to take your bike with you, or you could leave it at the train station and take the train if your place of work is near a station. This will not only allow you to save time and beat the traffic, but it will also save you a lot of money too.

These are all reasons why you should consider cycling more often. You’ll not only look and feel better but be able to save a few bucks at the same time.
