April is National Stress Awareness Month, which inspired Marriott Caribbean & Mexico Resorts to determine what causes stress in the lives of their customers and what role it plays in vacation decision-making. A survey of more than 1,400 travelers revealed that an overwhelming majority of Americans view vacation as the number one antidote to work life stress, yet many of them do not utilize all of their available days! Here’s what was learned:
- 72% of respondents said they plan a vacation to specifically de-stress and forget the daily grind, with the majority citing tension in the workplace ahead of concerns about finances as the greatest source of daily pressure.
- One third of respondents admitted they did not utilize all of their available vacation time.
In order to motivate travelers to use their permitted time and ease their tension levels, the eight exclusive resorts in the Collection have launched a special “De-Stress For Less Event”. This offer provides guests with 20% – 30% off leisure rates on travel between April 15 and August 31 with bookings made before April 30, 2013 and minimum two-night stay required. Travelers can learn more by going to www.paradisebymarriott.com and must use the promotional code ‘X32’ when making a reservation.
The Collection hopes that people will take advantage of the offer – if nothing else than to reconnect with loved ones. In fact, according to the survey:
- Respondents said spending more intimate time with their partner was the number one activity they do more of during vacation than in their everyday lives, followed by eating and reading
- Just for fun, the question was posed asking with what celebrity they would most want to relax during vacation and Academy Award winner Halle Berry topped the list ahead of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Denzel Washington.
Marriott Caribbean & Mexico Resorts are proving to be a leader in the relaxation field. The Collection had earlier launched “Braincation” tech-free zones at their properties which, due to popularity, will be extended throughout the month of April as designated peaceful areas. At each resort, guests are encouraged to disconnect from technology and not use anything with a plug or battery in the zones, and can enjoy complimentary magazines, cucumber water, cold towels and more, varying by property.
Participating resort properties include:
• Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris® Casino
• JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa
• CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort
• Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino
• Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort
• CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa
• St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino
• Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort
