Tips on the Best Care for Your Feet

However, there are so many things that we are told what to do for foot care that it is easy to get lost in the noise. Here are some tips to help you give your feet the best care possible.

Have Proper Footwear

Depending on your everyday life, you may need a different pair of shoes than someone else would. For instance, if you are a construction worker, you will not be wearing the same shoes that someone else would wear to their office. For work that is harder on your feet, your shoes will be designed more toward endurance and cushion to counter the stress that your feet will take throughout the day. If at all possible, avoid flats and flip-flops, as they will wear down your arch. If you can, custom soles are the way to go, as they are tailored to your feet specifically.

Good-Quality Socks

Having the proper shoe is important, but you are not always wearing them. A good sock is instrumental in caring for your feet. You want your socks to be thick and have proper cushion, as well as the ability to give your feet room to breathe. If you have a poor-quality sock, there is not much that the sock is doing other than working on becoming another threadbare piece of fabric.

Moisturize

Your feet see a lot of use and are prone to drying out. You need to massage lotion into the skin on your feet to get the best circulation possible and to keep the skin on your feet soft. This will prevent skin buildup, which can lead to calluses. Try getting some lotion that is specific for your feet. If you cannot find any, normal lotion or moisturizer is fine.

Get Surgery

Corrective Foot Surgery is for people who have put off properly taking care of their feet and have ailments from ingrown toenails to bone spurs. Now, if you have arrived at the point where you need surgery to fix your feet, there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Your insurance may not cover everything, so you may need to be prepared to pay for at least part of your surgery.
  • You may be recommended medications to fix your feet instead of having surgery.
  • Your condition may not be fixed by surgery.

There are a lot of things to consider before you call to schedule a consultation, so keep that in mind. If you are not yet at the point where you need surgery, please be sure to keep an eye on any issues that you see forming and try to take care of them on your own if you can.

Proper foot care takes a lot of work, and it is easy to neglect to care for our feet in a fast-moving world. However, it is essential if you want to keep being able to keep using your feet without problems.
