Simple Actions to Take Control of Your Mental Health

Poor mental health is a severe problem in the United States, with 43.8 million adults experiencing mental health-related issues every year. Many people live with depression, anxiety, addictive behaviors, and eating disorders that stop them from living an ordinary, fulfilling life.   While there are generally no quick fixes for poor mental health, you may experience some positive results by taking these simple actions:

Explore Psilocybin

Psilocybin are classic psychedelic you may hear referred to as magic mushrooms. While some people consume psilocybin-containing products like Mantra Bars Euphoria for recreational purposes, you may see value in magic mushrooms for mental health.

A great deal of research exists to support psilocybin as a possible treatment option for anxiety, depression, and addiction. In one study, psilocybin was used in three controlled trials and was able to reduce cancer-related psychiatric distress for six months after one administration.

Try CBD

There is a range of CBD products on the market, and many people use them to help them feel relaxed, sleep better, or reduce pain. However, some studies indicate that CBD may also provide people with antidepressant and anti-anxiety effects.

A 2018 study on the therapeutic potential of CBD determined that CBD had anxiolytic, antipsychotic, and neuroprotective properties. As a result, there’s potential for it to be helpful for people with substance abuse disorder, sleep disorders, PTSD, depression, and even bipolar disorder.

Seek Professional Help

Don’t be afraid to reach out to mental health professionals when you’re feeling depressed, anxious, or believe you have another mental illness that’s stopping you from living life to the fullest.

Therapists and psychologists can be more than a listening ear. They can also provide you with helpful tools and therapy types to help you get your mental health back on track. Many people experiencing mental illness find behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and psychodynamic psychotherapy helpful.

Create An Exercise Routine

Exercise can sometimes be the last thing you feel like doing when you’re in the throes of depression. However, it may be more helpful than you think for taking control of your mental health. Studies show that aerobic exercises like jogging, dancing, cycling, walking, and gardening have been proven effective in reducing anxiety and depression. While you might not feel like dancing when you’re anxious, putting on your favorite song and moving around to the beat might be worth it. You might even find that it helps you get in shape.

Stay Connected to Your Loved Ones

It’s easy to withdraw from those closest to you when you’re not feeling your best. However, maintaining social connections can be crucial for helping you work through your feelings and feel supported. As challenging as it can be to talk about your feelings, consider reaching out to someone you trust. You may feel less alone even if you have just one person to share your thoughts with.

Experiencing mental health challenges can be scary, especially when they stop you from enjoying life to the fullest. Seek professional help, talk to loved ones, try new health products, and get involved in exercise. These simple actions may be all it takes to have you start feeling at your best once more.
