Home to the Sound of Music filming locations, Mozart’s birthplace and lovely historic sites, Salzburg is a gorgeous Austrian city that is also home to some fantastic vegan eats!
First, let me start by saying that you can’t visit Salzburg without doing a Sound of Music tour! Taking you around the city and even up to the lake district with time to stroll the streets near the church where Maria was married, it’s a great way to get to know the city and have some fun recreating scenes from the movie as well!
After that, make a beeline to The Green Garden. One of the best meals you’ll have in all of Europe! While it’s fully vegetarian, their vegan options are outstanding. The lovely couple who owns and operates the GG have created a hip and cool space with wonderfully creative food. I’ll never forget my cucumber gazpacho appetizer or my sweet and savory flatbread! Yum!
A wonderful place for a coffee and a sandwich is the Heart of Joy Cafe. Peaceful, serene and with outdoor seating on a lovely avenue, you can take in the splendor of Austria while chillin’ with a treat!
For a fully veganic experience, try GustaV! A great new 100% vegan eatery with fun sandwiches, coffees and desserts, perfect for a light meal in between all the sightseeing!
If you have a hankering for a little healthy Asian stir fry, Uncle Van is a must! A Subway/Chipotle style of build your own wok stir fry meal, Uncle Van has lots of vegan options to keep you full for days!
Sadly, my time in Bavaria is up but stay tuned as next, I’m off to Russia!
