healthy voyager natural migraine relief methodsAnyone who has ever suffered from migraine headaches knows just how debilitating they can be.  From the pain to the nausea and all of the other symptoms that come along these headaches, migraine symptoms can definitely be unpleasant to say the least.  Although many people opt to reach for medication to soothe their migraine symptoms, those remedies can be harsh on the body long term.  Because of that, more and more migraine sufferers are looking for more natural ways to manage their migraines.  Fortunately, there are many migraine treatment options that don’t involve medication.

Massage

Massage is one of the best all-natural ways to treat migraines.  Massage has long used therapeutic touch to heal the body in many ways, from facilitating recovery from injuries to soothing chronic pain.  Migraine sufferers have gotten positive results from massage, too.  Massage releases tension and pressure and increases blood flow, which can alleviate the pain of migraines.  In terms of the power of massage in Calgary, residents have begun to realize that massage can indeed give them relief from the pain of migraines which, in turn, alleviates the other symptoms as well. The use of essential oils in tandem with the therapeutic touch can be a very potent combination when it comes to treating migraines naturally.

Hydro therapy

Also known as water therapy, hydro therapy is another way of naturally treating migraines.  One of the common causes of migraines is dehydration.  When that happens, the blood vessels constrict, which can lead to a migraine.  Through hydro therapy, the body is simply rehydrated through the drinking of large amounts of water.  This is particularly important in the hot summer months, when it is very easy to become dehydrated through sweating.  To reduce the risk of migraine caused by dehydration, always carry a water bottle with you.  Staying adequately hydrated will help to stave off migraines.  Sometimes prevention is the best cure.

Aromatherapy

You may think that treating migraines with scents is counterintuitive.  After all, strong scents are often a trigger for many migraine sufferers.  However, there is a difference between “random” scents such as perfumes and cleaners and carefully chosen aromatherapy scents that are designed to elicit a certain response from the body.  Scents such as lavender and rosemary have been shown to naturally alleviate headaches.  Burn aromatherapy candles or diffuse the oils into the air for a relaxing effect.  You can also dab aromatherapy oils on pulse points on the body or wear the oils in specially designed locket so that you can inhale the scent when you feel a migraine coming on. 

Migraines can be caused by a variety of things – lifestyle, scent triggers, food additives, heredity and more.  There are many different approaches to treating and preventing the symptoms of migraines, including the pain, nausea and stress, but these natural approaches are among some of the most gentle and most effective methods of dealing with this most unpleasant conditions that affects so many people around the world.
