Accept that you can’t follow the same plan

Motivate each other
Motivating each other through exercise is always beneficial, but losing weight as a couple means you can also give each other emotional support in tough times. If you have hit a plateau, having someone there to be your cheerleader and remind you of how far you’ve come can help you persevere. If you have someone there to compete with, this can also provide some healthy motivation to be healthier.
Don’t be too competitive
There is nothing wrong with some healthy competition, but if this becomes paramount to your success, then it’s wise to take a step back. Too much or aggressive competition can cause unnecessary friction, and can contribute to an unhealthy mindset. If one of you loses weight quicker, which is usually true for men, don’t take this as a sign you aren’t succeeding. Ultimately, you aren’t losing weight to beat your partner, but to create a healthier, happier you. It’s good to remind yourself that you are proud of your partner and yourself, but that their success is not the key to yours.
