How Humidity Affects Your Skin For the Better

take care of your skinDuring your lifetime you have probably heard that placing a humidifier inside the home improves the air quality and lets you breathe easier. It provides great comfort for those with the flu, common cold, or respiratory problems. What you may not know is that humidity can also benefit your skin, hair, and body.

The Positive Role of Humidity and Skin Health

Humid weather, found in places like Houston, can help hydrate the skin, leaving it soft, supple and nourished. In environments where the air is dry, your skin can become dehydrated. It may flake and wrinkle more quickly. For those with dry skin, humidity can prevent irritation and reduce the appearance of redness by reducing the process of skin regeneration. If you have a skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis, living in an environment with higher levels of humidity can help.

Improving Skin and Hair Health

You want to improve your looks and have considered rhinoplasty. Thankfully there are many reliable rhinoplasty Houston-based facilities that can help you achieve your goals. Keeping your skin and hair healthy is also something that will improve your appearance. An indoor environment with humidity levels in a range between 40-60% can benefit skin and hair health. Lower levels of humidity can leave the skin dry and itchy, causing lips to become chapped and hair to become coarse, dry, and brittle. Even if you don’t live in a humid environment, you can create a desirable level of moisture in the air by using a humidifier. Portable models are ideal as you can move them easily from room to room.

Skin Rejuvenation

Climates that are moisture-rich can promote cellular turnover. This occurs due to the moisture contained in the air. Reducing the presence of dead cells gives your skin a brighter, clearer appearance that glows, naturally.

Remove Unwanted Toxins

Your skin is constantly exposed to toxins that collect and remove skin health. While higher levels of humidity may make you sweat from time to time, this is good for your skin. The damp air allows the skin to retain added moisture and remove toxins both externally and internally.

Prevent Premature Aging

Reduced levels of moisture on the skin can lead to dry patches, irritation, and redness. It can also accelerate the aging process by producing fine lines and wrinkles prematurely. Humidity preserves the skin’s elasticity with added moisture that reverses the premature signs of aging. In essence, it helps to plump up the skin and leaves it with a more youthful appearance.

Skincare Designed for Humidity

Regardless of your skin type, using natural beauty products during humid months will help you retain a beautifully clear and glowing appearance year-round. For instance, a humectant moisturizer works well for those with skin prone to dryness. For those with oily skin, exfoliating regularly in humid environments will reduce skin congestion by removing dead skin cells to prevent pores from clogging. A whipped or lighter formulated moisturizer and foundation will also help let the skin breathe. Additionally, a good cleanser that clarifies and removes deep-down dirt and makeup will compliment your beauty routine.

Ways to Remain Comfortable in Humid Weather

Facial mists provide instant relief to facial skin. They help promote proper hydration ideal for dry skin, as well as refreshing and soothing all skin types. They also help you retain moisture and reap the skin benefits of the humid environment. Products containing rosewater, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, can reduce redness and prevent irritation of the skin.

Skin Oil Benefits in Humidity

Natural oils nourish the skin. Some oils such as coconut and jojoba dry without leaving a visible, shiny appearance. You can enhance their nourishing effects in humid environments with the ability to use lighter, breathable facial products and leave the thick moisturizers behind.

Moderate humidity levels can promote healthy skin and hair, leaving it with radiance, softness, and a glow.
