perfect smileHaving a beautiful smile on your face can work wonders for you. Smiling doesn’t just make you more attractive but also improves your mood quite a lot. Plus, it’s contagious; many studies suggest that when you smile at a friend or loved one, they have a natural urge to smile back. So you’re not only improving your mood but also theirs. However, for many people, it can sometimes be hard to smile without restraint because of their countless insecurities regarding their teeth. Losing your smile because of simplistic, worldly insecurities is the worst thing of all, and no one should have to go through it. So, whether you have crooked or stained teeth or bad breath problems, there’s always a solution for every problem. Here’s a simple guide to help you get your great smile back.

Brush Twice Every Day

Many people don’t properly grasp the importance of brushing daily and forget to do it often. This results in a plaque build-up which then causes cavities. Whereas, many other people do pay attention to brushing daily but do not know the proper method to brush teeth. Your brush should be held at a 45 degrees angle to your teeth so that the bristles of the brush can reach all the way down to your gum line and remove the plaque or bacteria buildup present there. It is advised that you brush for two minutes, twice, every day to ensure bacteria doesn’t build up and cause you problems. Don’t forget to brush the back of your teeth as well.

Get Braces

The easiest solution to crooked teeth is getting braces and while it’s a long process to endure, the end results make everything worth it. Plus, there are numerous options available for teeth straightening today. In addition to braces, and those too of different types, there are numerous types of aligners present as well. Like this Calgary Orthodontist suggests invisible aligners are the best option these days if you can afford them. It usually takes around 4 to 5 years for the treatment to be complete but when it’s completed, you’ll see a changed smile.

Floss!

Flossing is as important as brushing teeth and should be done daily, or even twice a day to remove any food buildup between your teeth. Flossing is especially recommended for people who’ve had braces in the past because the gap between their teeth makes it easy for food particles to get stuck there and cause bacteria buildup. Grip the floss in a C-shape and firmly pull it back and forth to remove any food, plaque, and bacteria buildup in your teeth. While on the subject of flossing, doctors suggest avoiding mouthwash because many products come with ingredients that instead of benefiting your teeth, end up damaging them.

Use Teeth Whitening Products

Teeth staining can be caused by numerous reasons; while surface stains are caused by coffee, wine, tobacco, or tea, deeper stains can be a result of injury, infection, or medications. Depending on the intensity of the stains, you can get teeth whitening products to help get rid of these stains. However, ensure that you use medically approved teeth whiteners and follow the instructions to the dot. If you fail to follow instructions and end up using more than the prescribed amount, you risk damaging tooth enamel and causing in-depth damage to your teeth.

Focus On Your Diet

What has our diet got to do with our teeth, that’s what you’re asking yourself right? Well, eating right can make all the difference, and make sure your teeth are healthy and clean. Food that has a high acid content can be destructive to your teeth as it leaves your teeth enamel exposed to bacteria as well as mechanical damage. Raw, fresh vegetables can naturally clean your teeth.

Freshen Your Breath

It’s difficult to have a big smile on your face if you’re conscious about your breath. Bad breath can result from various factors but the main reason for chronic bad breath is bacterial accumulation on the enamel. To remedy this, you should ensure that you brush your teeth and floss regularly. You should also not forget about tongue hygiene as it is just as important as brushing your teeth. But, instead of using the same toothbrush to scrub your tongue, you should invest in a high-quality tongue scraper to ensure good oral hygiene.

A smile can go a long way to better your mood and improve your confidence. But, if you’re conscious of your smile, you’ll never be able to smile freely, and naturally. This is why you should ensure perfect dental hygiene by brushing daily, and following the other advice mentioned above.
