Fly Often? Stay Healthy Even When Flying Coach

Health Tips when Flying CoachFor frequent flyers, the feeling of being cramped in coach for four or five hours at a time is normal. Flying is actually difficult on the body, even if you are in first class. Staying healthy for these long flights is crucial to saving that vacation or performing well at a long-distance convention. Consider your flying habits as you apply some healthy tricks for a better feeling after landing.

Grab Some Water

You may notice everyone searching for the flight attendant to order an alcoholic drink, but water is your best friend on an airplane. The low humidity actually makes your mouth and skin dry, causing dehydration after several hours. Sip water throughout the flight to remain hydrated. Your skin and mind will benefit from the water influx, and balance will be maintained within your cells. The hydration also keeps your urinary tract regular to avoid any infections associated with travel and fatigue.

Walk It Out

It’s crucial to walk around the cabin when the pilot says it’s safe to do so. Walk the aisles, especially when you need to use the restroom because of all the water intake. Sitting for hours at a time is bad for your back, muscles and circulatory system. Periodic walks relax your body. Avoid walking around if turbulence is beginning to increase, however. The pilot will inevitably have everyone sit down to avoid any accidents.

Find a Rhythm

Sometimes turbulence is so bad that you must remain seated for long periods. Do not panic if this type of turbulence occurs. Remember the chances of emergency are extremely slim in the air, so try your best to stay calm. In these cases, try to exercise your legs by tapping your feet. You want to contract and relax your calf muscles to move blood up and down the lower extremities. Your legs will immediately feel better with the gentle movement. Try to stretch your arms if possible. Any movements you can make while in a seated position allow you to be more comfortable and healthier.

Breathe Deeply

This technique can help calm passengers who suffer from Aerophobia, which is the fear of flying. Regardless of the airline, all cabin pressures must meet certain specifications. Although oxygen is obviously necessary, most cabins have low pressure throughout the flight. You may feel lightheaded if you’re prone to shallow breathing. Be conscious of your breathing technique and aim for deep breaths. Do not panic. Remember the chances of emergency are extremely slim in the air, so try your best to stay calm. Adding more oxygen to your bloodstream allows you to feel more vigor when you land. The sensation of grogginess and disorientation after landing is often due to low oxygen levels affecting your brain for long periods.

Keep Your Hands to Yourself

Try to use paper towels on anything you touch such as doors or chairs. Wash your hands often or carry hand sanitizer as a smart alternative. Your body is often vulnerable to germs while you’re traveling, making it easier to get sick as you become fatigued. Keep your hands away from your face, mouth and eyes.

If you are a frequent flyer, be sure to try CheapOair or another online booking service. Even suggest online booking to people trying to overcome fear of flying. Employing healthy habits while saving money on a flight is a harmonious combination for a great time at your destination. Domestic flights South Africa has cheap flights to Durban, Johannesburg, Cape Town and many other domestic and international destinations.
