dentail insuranceHave you ever met someone who eats a lot sweets but is cavity free? On the other hand, maybe you know someone who brushes three times a day, eats a heart-healthy diet but still has ongoing dental issues.

Believe it or not, genetics can play a huge role in your dental health. If your parents or siblings suffer from ongoing dental issues, you may as well. In addition, lifestyle choices also play a role in your oral health. Excessive alcohol consumption can also wreak havoc on your teeth.

But that doesn’t mean all hope is lost.

Thankfully, advances in dentistry have made it possible for patients to replace chipped, diseased, or even missing teeth with a variety of dental implants. Some of new practices use the most advanced technologies from day one to improve patients’ smile. As an example of advancements, check the equipment used by New York Total Dental! It is important to read the reviews before booking an appointment, we would suggest going to the dentist in la mirada as they specialize in dental implants.

The type of implant used depends on the in-depth examination of your mouth and overall general health. Implantologists specialize in teeth implants; however, an orthodontist can perform the same service. Dental Implants are one of the most sought treatments in cosmetic dentistry. Among the top benefits of implants, the teeth-like feel is number one. Dental implants feel exactly like regular teeth. Your dentist fixes them to your jaw, so you do not have to remove them like dentures.

After an in-depth oral examination, your dentist should be able to determine what type of dental implants suits you. It is not a one-time treatment; it takes multiple sessions to insert the implant, from preparing your gums to follow up treatments and everything in between.

Before going to your dentist, ensure they have a dental implant payment option for you if your insurance does not cover cosmetic dentistry. This will help you plan or choose a pocket-friendly yet effective procedure, with your doctor’s discretion.

The type of implant, such as titanium vs zirconium implants, that will be used is determined by an in-depth examination of your mouth and overall general health.

Be sure to check out your dentist’s website. Some sites provide more information on implants. Read on to learn about the different types of dental implants and how they may benefit you:

Single-Stage Dental Implants

This particular type of implant is surgically inserted into the jaw and through the gum, which will expose the top of the implant. This allows dentists to apply abutment, which is a connecting element used in removable dentures and dental bridges to the implant after the recovery period. Furthermore, dentists won’t have to perform another surgical operation in order to expose the implant again.

Two-Stage Dental Implants

The two-stage dental implant procedure is very similar to the single-stage variation, however, the process is a bit different. There are two surgeries involved with this procedure. Rather than cutting into the gum, an implant will be surgically inserted into the jawbone the first time. After the first recovery period, which is approximately three months, a second surgical operation will be performed to apply and attach the abutment to the implant. Furthermore, a crown will be temporarily placed over the tooth with the implant for protection. The recovery period from the second operation can range between three to six months.

Endosseous Dental Implants

Endosseous (Endosteal) dental implants utilize the same procedure as the aforementioned two-stage dental implants. However, the need for this operation is different than just getting regular implants. Patients may receive this particular implant as a placeholder for dentures or bridges. The endosseous implant is made of a titanium alloy and is surgically placed within the upper or lower jaw bones to restore the chewing function of the patient.

Subperiosteal Dental Implants

Subperiosteal implants are a bit unique when compared to the other types of implants. Like the other implants, the implant is inserted into the upper or lower jaw bone and uses the single-stage procedure. Subperiosteal implants are made out of a metal framework that the dentist exposes during surgery to hold the restoration. It is placed under the gum tissue, but it remains above your jaw bone. The metal frame itself will have tiny metal posts that will act as an anchor to the replacement tooth that the dentist will then apply to the implant.

Prior to undergoing any type dental restoration procedure, you must have a comprehensive dental examination with a board-certified dentist. After a complete examination, he or she will determine the best type of dental to help you achieve aesthetic goals. Weigh the pros and cons of each suitable implant before making a final decision.
