Balance Your Diet During the Summer MonthsSummer is an amazing time of year, and not just because you can soak in the sun and melt the stress away at the beach. It is also a period when fresh produce is available at every corner. It is here to keep you alive and thriving. Namely, summer fruits and vegetables are the mainstay of a balanced diet, as they are brimming with different benefits to your health. So, enjoy the bliss of good food, the glorious weather, and pleasant company: indulge your senses while also guarding your health and wellbeing.

The whole nine yards

Whole foods are always a preferable choice and they should form the backbone of your diet. There is no better way to strike a fine balance of essential nutrients, preserve your health, and witness the fitness, than to consume locally-sourced fresh food. It is available, affordable and in season. Hence, you can avoid all the toxic chemicals and harmful substances used during the storage and conservation processes.

Then again, there is no need to rule out supplements. They come in handy when you want to bridge nutrient gaps or accelerate your weight loss. Of course, it is of the utmost importance to do your research and use safe products, such as Rapid Loss. Steer away from misleading labels and shady companies if you want to stay on the safe side.

Chasing the sun

Now let’s talk about some of the best foods you can eat! First off, fresh sweet corn is one of my personal favorites. It is not only tasty, but contains two vital antioxidants as well. One of them, believe it or not, acts as a natural filter to the damaging sun rays. What is more, consuming corn can prevent macular degradation, which induces blindness in people over the age of 60.

Now that we have acquired “sunglasses”, it is time for sunscreen. It comes in the form of tomatoes, that offer extra protection from sunburn. We can thank lycopene for that, the substance that makes potatoes red, for this amazing property. One scientific study has shown that eating this vegetable decreased skin reddening and mitigated the impact of UV light. Drinking tomato juice also does the trick.

food that holds waterFoods that hold water

Watermelon is one of the most popular summer foods and for good reason, too. It is not just a mouth-watering fruit, but also one that keeps your body hydrated (watermelon is 92% water). Moreover, eating water-rich foods keeps your body cool, stabilizes your mood, and makes your mind satisfied with fewer calories.

Coffee is the preferred way to kick off mornings in summer. A lot has been said about the pros and cons of drinking coffee, and it seems that the former outweighs the latter. Naturally, during summer, you want to add some ice to the mix. Just bear in mind that it is drinking in moderation that pays dividends to your health, lowering the risk of severe conditions, like skin cancer.

Trimming weight

You may have heard that tart cherry juice helps you get more quality shut-eye and alleviate workout pain, but that is not all. These amazing little fellows also aid people who want to slim down, become leaner, and showcase their bodies at the beach. Namely, they reduce fat deposits and reinforce the fat burning process.

In case you seek to shed some pounds, raspberries are also worth your attention. They are packed with fiber: one cup of raspberries has 8 grams of this essential nutrient. Thus, eating more raspberries promotes weight loss, decreases cholesterol levels and lowers the risk of morale-shattering gains. In case you are consuming around 2,000 calories per day, nutritionists advise you to increase fiber by 16 grams.

balance of essential nutrients1In balance and good health

Longer days, greener grass, and warmer evenings are just some of the spoils of summer. Apart from savoring the majestic beauty of the great outdoors, you should also enrich your diet with wholesome food. It is time to get back to the basics and capture the essence of sound nutrition. There is a cornucopia of delicious and healthy foods to choose from. So, get ready to rise and shine and feel bustling with energy and vigor.
