vegan Strawberry Arugula Salad recipePeople suffering from medical problems and even mental problems often don’t realize that their diet might be making a larger contribution than they ever thought. The kind of food we eat and the quantity play a huge role in both our physical and mental health.

When people think of eating healthy they often think of making complicated meals that use only vegetables and protein, which usually tastes bland and unappetizing. However, healthy food can be just as delicious as any other kind of food if you know how to put it together. Here are a few ideas that will help you make smarter dietary decisions.

Eat Better Carbs

One of the main components in our food is some form of carbohydrates. This could be in the form of pasta, rice, bread, sugar, potatoes, or many other carb-rich foods. The idea here is to lower or eliminate the harmful carb sources and incorporate good carb sources. As a rule of thumb, carbs that come from plants and natural sources are considered good carbs or complex carbs. Simple carbs or bad carbs are predominantly found in processed foods, especially in sugar.

Meals

People don’t enjoy eating healthy because they don’t really know how to make delicious healthy food. The usual idea of making something healthy is to reduce oil, reduce sugar and reduce all those things that give food its flavor. According to the chefs at Fresh In Your Fridge, you can easily find a lot of healthier recipes for your favorite food online, and there are plenty of online tutorials on how to prepare and make interesting food yourself. If you want to it’s possible to completely outsource cooking altogether and have a professional chef do the cooking for you based on your exact macro requirements.

Use Better Oil

Another big bad component in the modern diet is oil. This is used for everything from sauces to deep-fried food. Just changing the kind of oil you use can have an impact on your health. Different oils also have different flavors so just using the right oil can be a simple way to change the taste of a dish. Also, there are a variety of oils that not only are better for you but a better suited to certain kinds of cooking. If you need to sauté something at high heat you want an oil that will tolerate that temperature. Alternatively, if you are using oil as a dressing you want something much lighter and gentler like extra virgin olive oil.

Eat Green

Green food such as fresh fruits and vegetables are loaded with nutrients of all kinds. Just having a bowl of salad with one of your meals will give you enough nutrients for the entire day. Rather than eating multi-vitamins and other supplements, you can get the same benefits by incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet.

A healthy diet needs to have the right components and have them in the right proportions. Protein is great for health but eating too much of it will be counterproductive. A healthy diet means healthy food choices, making sure you are drinking enough water, and limiting substances like alcohol and sugary drinks. It’s all about eating things that are good for you and removing things from your diet that are harmful to your health.
