5 Reasons Yoga Is Good For Your Overall WellnessYoga is a great way to stay fit, yet many people stay away from it. Here are a few practical tips to make your friends and family try out yoga.

Yoga is a popular exercise medium for your whole body and mind. You can easily find a yoga studio near your house or gym where you can take yoga classes. How yoga is presented on social media and the internet can make it intimidating to some people. You can actively help your friends and family participate in yoga. Here are some helpful tips to make friends and family try out yoga.

Clue Them In

You can give them a clue about what to expect when taking up yoga. It makes it easier for some people to prepare once they know all the details. You can let them know how the process works.

Explain to them the step-by-step process: they need to sign in at the desk after walking in, put their items in the dressing room, take their shoes off, and lay the mat down in a comfortable place.

You can let them in on anecdotes that can help them succeed. Tips such as what they should eat before coming to class, what clothes would be appropriate, what time they should arrive at the class for the first time, and what items they should bring. You can also clue them in about how the instructor practices yoga with the class.

They will feel more confident about joining you when they feel fully prepared and have adequate knowledge of the proper yoga etiquette. They should also be able to have their own experience. Once you tell them about the different yoga poses for best friends to try together, they will love to try them out.

Let Them Attempt It At Home First

Nowadays, yoga classes can be attempted in the comfort of your own home. If your friend is unsure about trying yoga and is unfamiliar with the techniques, starting it off at home would be the best solution to get familiarized with how a yoga class operates.

Attempting yoga at home is a great way to boost the confidence levels of a beginner. This can prepare them for taking the studio classes as it is crucial to continue the yoga journey under the supervision of a qualified yoga instructor.

Yoga classes can be purchased as DVDs, or you can follow streaming platforms so you can watch at your own pace. Many of these streaming platforms are free of cost, making it more attractive for unsure beginners who want to get a flavor for it without signing up for any paid classes.

Help your friend or family member pick out the best online class to start the journey from the comforts of their own home.

Free Assistance

Free is a magically attractive word. And it is not uncommon to find a free yoga class that you can suggest to your friend, depending on the time of the year. A few teachers offer free yoga classes in open public places such as parks during the warmer summer months. At the same time, some studios may offer a weekly discounted or free yoga class. You can also find free classes held as fundraisers to help a specific person or family.

Donation-based classes have a more relaxed setting than the professional ones, making them perfect for beginners who are new to the whole concept. If you cannot find a free class to recommend to your friend, see if you can pay for the first class yourself. You are guaranteed to earn some brownie points with your friend as a result.

Make Yoga Relatable to Them

It will be easy for you to find a few exciting classes, which will be helpful to get your beginner friend on the mat and experience its overall wellness benefits. For instance, if your buddy is a wine or beer connoisseur, some wineries and breweries offer classes in happy hour style. First, you can participate in the yoga class, followed by friends and beverages.

If your family member or friend is into the night scene and music, you can suggest yoga classes that are themed around different music genres. Your friend can now practice yoga while the instructor drops the F-Bomb in an ongoing heavy metal class. Your family members can practice under backlights decked out in glowing paint as yoga class has a club vibe.

Have Fun With It

Practicing yoga does not have to be serious. You need to make it fun for your friends and family. Do silly things, make them laugh. An easy way to do this is by doing partner poses together.

They allow you to have a deeper bond with your partner while you lighten up the mood. You can try out fun activities such as sitting back to back and attempting some deep breathing exercises. See if you can slow down or increase your breath to match that of your partners.

You and your partner can hold hands while doing the yoga poses that require balance, such as the Dancer’s Pose or Tree Pose. If you are attempting yoga with several family members, you can have everyone place their hands in the center, making a group pose. The whole point is to show your friends that yoga is not just serious business. It can be a whole lot of fun too.

Summing Up

Once your friend knows the true benefits of yoga, they will be more willing to try it out with you. Remember, yoga is most helpful when you do it with a positive and welcoming attitude. So if your friend or family member is still resisting the idea of yoga a lot, it probably isn’t the right time for them. Don’t fret; they will pick it up when they are ready, and you will enjoy a fun-filled yoga session to reap all the benefits it offers.
