Mental Preparation for a Fitness Beginner

Are you just recently starting to work out? If your answer is yes, you should congratulate yourself. Determining to be more active is a fantastic milestone to receive all of the astonishing benefits of working out, from improving your health to all around higher confidence.

But once you have decided to begin doing exercise, that is where things may become a little overwhelming. With all of the small talk about the magic workout to do or the perfect amount of time to spend in the gym, you will confuse where to start for the first time. Moreover, if you are obvious about what you are doing or about your fitness goal, you will throw in the towel easily when things do not go as you planned.

At the beginning, oftentimes, you may be enthused and motivated to start it; but the further you go forward, the more self-complacent you are. Most of you lose vision of your goal only a few weeks into your workout programs. It becomes the primary reason why you feel it is so hard to reach the goal you want.

Preparing yourself mentally before you start your training program should do the trick. No matter what exercise you do, whether it is boxing, muay thai or so on, there are a few tricks you may use to prepare your mind to get ready for physical workout therefore you may create the most out of your workout plan. If you are a beginner, who just started working out you may begin with creating your work out plan or you may visit reshape.me and read more about it there. Occasionally the secret to a successful workout program is merely reminding yourself why you are starting to do your fitness program in the first place.  In most cases, the hardest thing you do about working out is getting yourself up from your couch  and actually starting to be active.

This article will give a few tricks you may motivate yourself to provide your  utmost effort, even when you are on days you do not really feel like doing so.

Discover Your True Goal

When you just start to workout, you may not know your real reason why you want to do it. Your daily life is not going to be only a walk in the park. Inevitably, challenges will come to your life, including your fitness journey.  The defiance guaranteed to attack you like a ton of bricks. If you are like most people, you will perhaps run into a wall at the same point – where you solely do not feel like growing an motivation or putting an effort.

Every movement you do feels like you are so weighed down. The more you try to promote yourself, the more your brain and mind try to persuade you to stop and just give up. Rest assured, you are not the only one who has experienced those things. It is a normal event, and you should expect it to happen in your life, especially your workout journey.

One simple thing you have to do before starting your workout plan is to remind yourself of your true objective why you want to start it in the first place. You all may take part in your specific fitness journey for different goals. Probably you want to look great in front of a mirror. Probably you want to wear smaller size clothes. Or perhaps you feel like making your health better in order to prevent complications later on.

Whatever your reasons, it always is great to remind yourself of those reasons before you start your exercise. The more concentrated you are on your purposes, the easier you are to figure yourself to achieve them. Keep your eye on the prize so you do not lose sight on the way.

Keep a Record of Your Workout

Another good trick to prepare yourself mentally is to record your training in a diary or journal. Writing a workout diary or journal will allow you to revisit your mental state when you start your exercise routines. Probably you were feeling a bit fatigued after a certain meal or you were particularly more motivated during a certain time in the day. These are the things that you should note in your workout journal to help you know yourself more. In addition, keeping a note about your workout may be greatly motivational, because it allows you to vindicate your body progress, which will help you set better goals for your future health.

Perform it as a habit to write down what you did, how hard it was and how you were feeling in your journal entry. The main goal of your workout journal is to better link with your internal self. The more you understand how your mindset is, the easier you will be to control yourself. Doing exercise is also about mental health. If you can practice your mind to face through doubt and fear, you may get more out of each hour you workout.

Understand Your Struggle

There will certainly be a day when you do not feel like doing exercise. You feel that way because, the reason is simple, working out is hard. It is better to understand those things earlier.  When you will learn to embrace your struggle and the difficulty, afterward, you will start to encourage yourself to do the best. You have to face it, workout is hard, and  it is not supposed to be light. Nothing useful is ever easy. You have to give your time and effort in the gym to reach the outcome you crave. Normally you need around 8 to 12 weeks to notice significant physical improvement in your body, please be patient, as well as consistency. Both of them are the key.

Furthermore, if you feel like your exercise becomes really harder, then you are certainly on the right track. Working out is not supposed to get lighter and you should put more challenges on your training each day. You should always struggle to pass through your comfort zone, force your muscle, heart, lungs to get stronger and stronger.

Realize Who Your Worst Enemy Is

In this fight of debilitation between yourself and the weighing scale, it is great to realize exactly who you are up against. The worst enemy you will ever face is yourself and your own mind, no one else. There will always be times when you will try to speak to yourself to give up on working out. It could probably happen in a week, two week or in a month. And perhaps it could happen after 20 minutes into your exercise. However, when you feel tired and start to feel like throwing the towel  on doing exercise, please realize that it is only yourself who is the big obstacle to reach your goal. Moreover, you perhaps join a fitness club at some point in your life but it never results the way you want it to be. The reason is simple, it is because you let yourself get beaten mentally. Therefore, at this moment, you should be able to face yourself and your inner demons. Once you understand yourself more, you will win the battle between you and your mind every single day.

Please CLEAR YOUR MIND

Last one but not least, making your mind clear is one of the most effective tricks to pass through a workout mentally. It will help you get rid of all external distractions, the thought which bothers your mind and ruins your ability to figure is critical to getting a good working out.  You may turn off your mobile phone, fight back the desire to go online and look at your social media, unplug. Do not be gossiping in the gym, interrupting not only yourself, but other people around you from reaching your goals. Please clear your mind and focus on your goal. One method you may reach this is by sparing a few extra minutes before working out to meditate.

Meditation is an unbelievable method to prepare your mind for a tough workout ahead. Meditating before you start to exercise will help you more relax and stretch your muscles. In addition, you may increase your self-control and focus more, which are both important to every exercise you do. Meditating after your workout is also important, it will help weaken your cortisol levels which tend to increase during intense workout sessions.
