green juiceGreen juice is organic and fresh, as we know it. Now, let’s get to know the benefits of green juice and when to consume it.

Green juice is considered to work wonders for losing weight and having a good digestive system and metabolism. It has gained popularity in recent years for its spectacular results.

This juice doesn’t have any specific recipe. But the usual ingredients used to make it are- celery, kale, spinach, lemon, chard, cucumber, parsley, and mint. You can add fruits and vegetables of your preference as well.

Adding green juice to your diet enhances and improves your body’s metabolism and definitely helps you to cut out the unnecessary, extra calories in your body, resulting in weight loss.

The green juice works as a detox drink, which helps to clear out any kind of impurities your body has been building up in order to detox to cleanse the body. Many public figures promote and encourage us to drink green juice by talking publicly about its benefits.

What is Green Juice?

Green juice is a drink made of green vegetables of your choice. Some may add a few fruits to the drink as well.

The reason people add fruits to the green drink is that it might be a bit bitter for some people. The addition of fruits lessens the bitter taste a bit.

The fruits don’t have to be green. The common fruits added to the green juice are berries, apples, kiwi, grapefruits, and oranges. For an added nutritional boost, some individuals opt to incorporate super greens powder into their green juice. This supplement not only amplifies the drink’s nutrient content but also contributes to an overall sense of well-being.

Most people like to make green juice at their own place with fully fresh and organic ingredients. However, some prefer buying them from cafes as well. It is wise to make your own green juice because the ones sold in cafes and stores usually have sugar added to it, which absolutely ruins the main purpose of the drink. Also, they are bottled, which damages some heat-sensitive nutrients as heat is exerted during pasteurization.

Health Benefits of Green Juice

We’ve already discussed some of the health benefits green juice has. Now let’s go in-depth about its other benefits.

Not an Alternative

Remember, just because it provides us with many nutrients and helps in metabolism, it doesn’t mean we will stop having fruits and vegetables apart from the green juice.

Some fruits and vegetables aren’t being included in the green juice, so we need to have them separately.

Essential Source of Nutrients

We already know by now how beneficial green juice is for us. It has all the vital vitamins, minerals, and fibers in it. Kale and chard have a lot of Vitamin A in them, whereas wheatgrass is filled with Vitamin C and iron.

Other Health Benefits of Green Juice

Green vegetables are helpful in reducing heart-related diseases, slowing the decline of organ metabolism due to age, and control inflammations of any sort.

Green leafy veggies have prebiotics that helps destroy certain bacterial growth or bacteria found in the digestive tract. This also helps with constipation, improved immune system, and weight loss.

It’s good for people who don’t like chewing their vegetables or fruits and find drinking to be easier. On the bright side, for people who have a history of abdominal or intestinal surgery, the juice helps a lot with easier digestion.

When and How Should You Drink Green Juice?

There are some frequently asked questions, such as what is the right way of drinking green juice or when we should drink it. Let’s go through these commonly asked questions to put an end to any kind of confusion.

Drink When Stomach is Empty

It is best to drink green juice when you have an empty stomach. Experts say that this way, the nutrients are absorbed better by the body, which will result in more positive outcomes.

Having the juice with a meal on the side will only slow down the absorption process. In some cases, some nutrients are left out without being absorbed while eating a meal.

The Meal Can Be Salad

However, if you really want to have a meal with juice, you can opt for a salad with a majority proportion of vegetables in it.

This way, you won’t be losing much of the green juice’s nutrients, as it’ll be taken over by the salad you’ll be having. The alkaline level rises, which results in the highest percentage of detoxification in your body.

Drink the Juice First Thing in the Morning

To get the best results from the green juice, have it first thing in the morning, especially with an empty stomach, and at least an hour before or after drinking your coffee. This helps you to maintain your juices’ alkaline level.

Remember not to have any kind of meal besides it, except if it is a salad.

Should We Start Drinking It?

Even though green juice has promising results and is loved globally, there is nothing too special about it. We can easily get these nutrients in the vegetables and fruits we use to make it in the first place.

Just because it’s trendy and widely popular, don’t replace it with normal vegetable and fruit intake. It is very important to have vegetables and fruits, besides this juice.

Keep in mind, this drink only works as a substitute in our diet.

If you have diabetes or other blood sugar-related illnesses, make sure you check the food ingredient label for sugar. Don’t get the ones that have added sugar, as it will just ruin the drink’s main purpose.

You cannot have juice as your only source of nutrient intake.

Is Green Juice Overhyped?

We know it is a bit overhyped, but it is without a doubt very helpful for our body. There are people who prefer drinking veggies and fruits in juice form; they just might dislike chewing them as a whole.

For some, the juice might take less time to prepare and is more convenient to make for busy people.

However, if you plan on having green juice on a regular basis, make sure to put it in your balanced diet and not make it the main source of nutrient intake for yourself.

The article just quenched my inner interest…I was just thinking today about how much juice I can drink per day and lo and behold, the “gods of the internet” showed me this article.
In particular I love orange juice, and when I do not have time to make it myself, I buy a whole liter (!) in the store and drink it all day and as it turned out it is pretty bad for my body.

Be careful and have a good day!
