Don’t Let Fitness Crazes Control Your Life

fitness bootcampI train therefore I am.

The apparition of fitness tracking apps and wearables has dramatically transformed the relationship that people develop with their health. A major part of the population wants to be healthier, using fitness as a tool to achieve their goal. Ultimately, it’s difficult to find anything negative about this fitness interest, at first. After all, when the Western world struggles with more and more cases of obesity, it’s fair to say that fitness is definitely something to promote and thrive for. However, fitness has become more than a hobby for many people. It has turned into an obsession, and the desire to be fit at all cost might, in fact, be just as unhealthy as a triple cheeseburger with extra large fries – which, incidentally, is the kind of meals that is responsible for the obesity spell in the USA and the UK. In short, it’s time to get your fitness regime under control because it rules over your life.

The fitness trend is real

The popularity of fitness has been growing significantly over the past decade. So much, in fact, that one woman worries about her fitness fanatic friends: Why are they all training like professional athletes? Everyone Rebecca Holman knows is going to the gym religiously, and hitting the treadmill with their most expensive gym gear. Because that’s the underlying market that is growing with your fitness obsession, namely fitness gear. When you’re ready to spend almost $90 on a pair of leggings, it’s going out of hand – even if they happen to be Lulu Lemon leggings. How much are you really ready to spend on your sweat comfort, because that’s what the real question is. $90 to sweat fashionably is an overpriced fitness mistake.

You can train yourself to death

The more you train, the more you become obsessed with your shape, and the more likely you are to train some more. Overtraining is a condition that is often ignored by fitness aficionados, but that is real and dangerous. Indeed, if you don’t give your body enough time to recover, you are more likely to develop risky health conditions, starting with elevated resting heart rate and changes in appetite. Additionally, you are also at risk of injuring yourself. If you’re worried this might be happening, you need to take a step back and check your health – now is a good time to wonder ‘where is the next Urgent Care near me?’ for instance. You need a break from training before it breaks you.

Find something you like and stick with it

Of course, nobody is trying to convince you to give up your fitness habits. However, you might want to replace your hard training with a fun activity you enjoy. This could become your new fitness routine, such as ballet

or yoga, to stay lean without putting your heart under heavy pressures. Ultimately, the new motto about fitness might be to take it slowly!

If, like most people, you suspect you might be going a little crazy about fitness, it’s time to consider the path you’re taking seriously. From how much you’re spending on it to the health pressure you’re putting your body through, too much fitness is not the solution to a healthy lifestyle.
