Hacks to Help Prepare Your Skin for Summer

take care of your skinWith summer on the horizon, you will be hearing many tips and tricks from all angles telling you how to prepare yourself for the sun. While many of these involve buying a new wardrobe and dyeing your hair lighter, your main concern will be the health and the appearance of your skin. This applied to both the skin on your face, as well as on the rest of your body, as there is a chance that you will be spending much of your time traveling and stretching out on white beaches. To help you on your way to perfect summer skin, there are a number of steps you should follow.

Solve any skin problems

Glowing skin can be what makes, or break’s a person’s confidence, especially as there is a range of skin conditions out there which can affect the overall health and appearance of your skin. Before you start to prepare for the sun, you should consider visiting a dermatologist to see if there are any underlying problems with your skin that should be resolved before the sun comes out. Doing so could help prevent any issues becoming bigger, but also help improve your confidence. One of the biggest issues facing people today are conditions such as thread veins and rosacea, which can worsen due to stress. To help with the appearance of these, stop by a renowned clinic such as Dr Newmans Clinic to see what they can do.

Eat well

The secret to many people’s skin is the diet they eat. Having lots of sugar and fat in your diet can contribute to an excess of spots and oily skin, which is something you will want to avoid in summer. In your daily routine, start to make small changes in the lead up to summer, such as baking your food rather than frying it. Over time, you will see that your spots are fewer and your skin looks brighter. To get the most out of your diet, always try to eat superfoods like pomegranates, which are full of vitamins and anti-oxidants that are ideal for the skin.

Exfoliate

After the winter months, it is likely that your skin will feel dry, as there will be a build-up of dead cells on the surface which are preventing it from glowing. This problem is easily solved by exfoliating a few times a week. Doing so will remove all the hard skin on the surface to reveal the soft, supple skin underneath. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to stick to using a soft exfoliator with built-in moisturizers, so that you don’t come away with irritation and redness.

Invest in a sunless tanner

After you have exfoliated, you may want to build on the glow you have achieved by getting a tan. However, with the dangers of sunbeds far outweighing the benefits, you should invest in a sunless tanner to help you build your tan before the sun arrives. To avoid streaking and to help it look more natural, it is best to look at buying a gradual tanner that you can use to moisturize your skin.
