7 Outdoor Activities to Try

supWe live in a world that’s dominated by technology. Our lives are becoming increasingly sedentary, and our health and wellbeing are suffering. There’s no denying that mobile phones, computers, and the internet have made our lives better, but it is a double-edged sword. Look around you, and you’ll see people constantly using their smartphones, alienating themselves from people and the world around them. However, an increasing number of people are realizing the error of their ways and choosing to focus on other things.

If you feel the need to take a break from your gadgets, there’s nothing better than spending time outdoors. Activities outdoors tend to involve some form of physical activity, which is good for your mental and physical well being. Reap the benefits of a digital detox this weekend and try one of the following activities. You never know; you might like it so much that it becomes a regular thing!

Mountain Biking or Road cycling

If you’ve got a bike sat in the garage looking decidedly unloved, it’s time to dust it off and take it out for a spin. Why not invite your friends along? Hit the road or go off-road and enjoy one of the many mountain bike trails in your area.

Hiking

Hiking is an outdoor activity that doesn’t cost a penny. All you need is a sturdy pair of shoes, and you’re ready to head out for a hike. Take a stroll around your local park or head off into the woods or up in the mountains. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy being at one with nature.

SUP Yoga

Yoga is something you can do in the comfort of your own home, or you can take this relaxing activity outside. If you want to take your yoga experience one step further, you might want to try it on a stand up paddleboard. If you’re interested in this pursuit, look no further than ISLE, who can provide the equipment needed for SUP yoga.

Kayaking or Canoeing

Take a boat out on the water, float, and paddle around your local lake, stream or river. It’s also possible to canoe on the ocean, although you do need to be careful of the tides. When taking part in any activity on the water, remember to wear a life jacket and waders, even if you’re a strong swimmer.

Swimming

There’s nothing more refreshing than a cool swim on a beautiful hot summers day. If you’re lucky, there’s an outdoor pool in your neighborhood or a lake nearby you can swim in. Swimming is a good form of exercise because it’s low impact and uses a range of different muscles in your body.

Rollerblading or Skateboarding

If you’ve got a skateboard or rollerblades gathering dust in the closet, get them out and enjoy your neighborhood or the local park. All you need is the right safety gear and a paved area, and you’ll soon get the hang of it. Be prepared for a few falls because it might have been a while since you last enjoyed being out on more than four wheels.

Photography

Spending more time outdoors means you’ll get to appreciate so many things. Taking a camera with you and photographing things is a great way to slow down the experiences and enjoy nature. It gives you a valid reason to chill out and relax. Taking photographs also encourages you to look at the world around you in different ways. There’s always something else to see and experience wherever you find yourself.
