5 Signs You Need to Make a Doctor’s Appointment

heal app doctorVery few people enjoy taking time away from work or other plans in order to see the doctor, and it’s not all that difficult to see why. A visit to the doctor’s office can mean uncomfortable physical examinations, shots, blood tests, and other screenings for obscure diseases. All of that poking and prodding can be less than desirable.

However, you can’t put off going to the doctor’s office forever, and you may be long overdue for a checkup that could radically change your health and well-being.

If you are experiencing one or more of these five signs, you may need to stop procrastinating and call your doctor to schedule an appointment as soon as you can:

  1. Things have stopped working

Aging isn’t always kind to us, and it is normal to see a loss in strength, or more difficulty in performing everyday tasks. What isn’t normal is to see is bodily functions and systems failing to  function entirely in the span of one or several days.

This could mean great difficulty in moving certain limbs, passing certain foods, and for men, this could mean experiencing a slow and consistent loss in the ability to perform intercourse. If these experiences sound similar, it’s important to see a doctor in order to figure out what’s a normal factor of aging, and what’s more than meets the eye.

Your doctor could diagnose previously unknown diseases, assist with an ailment, or recommend a Cialis savings card in order to combat your symptoms, impotence, or any other issue your body may have developed.

2. The pain isn’t going away

It’s no secret that pain can last longer and feel more intense than it did when we were younger. An unfortunate but present reality for many people is the appearance of chronic pains and aches over time. These are to be expected in some fashion as a natural part of the aging process, but don’t be so bold as to label these as normal without consulting your doctor. If you’ve recently experienced an accident or incident and the pain isn’t going away, it’s seriously time to consult with your doctor. What seems to be a “part of life” to you may prove to be a serious problem.

The faster you seek out a doctor, the more likely you’ll be able to be rid of the pain entirely and prevent unnecessary chronic pain. Any preventable pain is certainly worth the appointment to be rid of it, right?

3. You can’t remember the last time you saw a doctor

This one’s simple, if you can’t remember the last appointment you attended, or last time you’ve seen your doctor, you’re probably overdue for an appointment. Skirting your regular appointments due to procrastination or just plain laziness can put you in more danger than necessary.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, reminds patients that regular checkups are important for the treatment of diseases and sicknesses that can pop up during everyday life.

Seeing your doctor is more than a missed day at work, it’s an opportunity for your doctor to keep on top of your health, and keep you fit and active for many work days to come.

4. Sudden or Unexpected Changes

As with our other signs, we know to expect a slow and constant change with our bodies. We may be slower, less active, and require less sleep over time, but we can expect these changes to happen slowly and carefully, not all at once.

This is why it’s important to immediately seek out help from a professional if something’s changed suddenly and without warning. Regardless of your age or current well-being, you should never experience a dramatic loss of physical and cognitive ability.

If you’re seeing changes in your body that occur almost overnight, you can’t afford to wait any longer to make the call and talk to your doctor about the issues you’ve been experiencing. Sudden changes can be the result of a host of terrible illnesses and even forms of cancer, so it’s simply not worth the risk to wait it out.

5. Lumps and Bumps

When is the last time you gave yourself or been given a physical examination? If you can’t answer the question, or find the answer to be well over a year ago or more, take the time to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Uncovering soft bumps or inflammations in the skin may be normal, but take serious note of hard bumps or painless but present growths.

If something doesn’t feel right or something feels new and unexpected, don’t hesitate to make an appointment. Abnormal growths such as hard lumps and bumps appearing in the wrong spots can be an early indication of a cancerous growth.

Out of all of the signs listed here, this is perhaps the most serious because time is your most valuable resource against cancer, and any delay in treatment can mean a worse or even fatal prognosis.

If anything, don’t lose anymore sleep over your bumps, and gain the peace of mind from knowing exactly what your growths are.

Conclusions

Seeing a doctor probably will never be a wonderful or enjoyable experience, but it is important to remember that it is a necessary one. Your doctor isn’t able to treat what he or she doesn’t know about, and delaying from seeing your doctor could mean living with easily curable or downright dangerous diseases.

If you’ve been experiencing a loss of physical ability, sudden and dramatic changes, or simply can’t remember the last time you stepped foot into an office, don’t delay a moment longer. Gain the knowledge that comes from speaking to a licensed professional and work to treat your illnesses today.

We hope that these five signs have helped you think about whether or not it is time to see a doctor. Chances are, it probably is.
