Firstly, it acts as a distraction and reduces stress levels, while also giving people a sense of purpose. Helping those less fortunate also enables people to become more appreciative of the things they have in life. Fortunately, gaining the benefits of altruism doesn’t have to involve large donations or giving up lots of your free time. Even small gestures like helping an elderly person carry shopping to their car, or holding a door open for someone can improve your mood and alleviate negative emotions.

2. Be more social

Socializing is essential to both your physical and mental health. Humans are social by nature and being part of a group or community helps people feel like they belong. Meeting up with your friends and family also allows you to discuss any important issues and work through any problems in your life. 3. Take care of your health
