3 Bad Habits that Can Affect Your Appearance

3 Bad Habits that Can Affect Your AppearanceEveryone knows that bad habits do far more harm than good in the long-run. The thing is, though, many simply don’t feel as if they have the willpower to change. While it can seem as if bad habits aren’t always noticeable from the outside, they can actually have detrimental effects on your appearance.

There are a few bad habits in particular that can affect your appearance, all of which can have cumulative effects as you get older. It sometimes seems next to impossible to break these, but all it takes is a little willpower and a strong focus on change.

After you really think about what these habits are doing to your style and appearance, it’ll become even more clear just how important it is to reevaluate your lifestyle, and make some changes.

Eating Fast Food

Let’s face it; fast food can be delicious. There’s no getting around the endorphin rush that comes with biting into a greasy cheeseburger, but it’s also not easy to ignore the negative effects that fast food can have on the body.

Most fast food is loaded with saturated fat and high in sugar and sodium, making it extremely unhealthy in comparison to the paltry nutrition it offers. Those who eat fast food daily tend to find their waistlines expanding at an alarming rate, and there’s no way you’re going to look your best with your gut hanging out. While the occasional burger and fries shouldn’t make or break your appearance, overindulging will undoubtedly cause you to look flabby over time.

Binge Drinking

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the occasional beer, glass or wine or mixed drink. In fact, many believe that 1-2 drinks per day can actually have positive cardiovascular effects.

Alcohol, however, is extremely calorie-dense, and it can be one of the leading causes for weight gain for those who drink to excess. After all, the term “beer gut” got it’s name for a reason, and those who drink beer regularly can attest to how quickly it happens. Try to keep your drinking to no more than 1-2 drinks per session, and be sure to limit the amount of nights you drink each week.

Partying is fun, but the long-term effects aren’t pretty.

Smoking

Smoking is bad for you – everyone knows this. Yet, it’s the one habit that millions of Americans just can’t seem to kick. The short-term effects on your appearance from smoking can be minimal, but take one look at someone who has been smoking for 30 years and it becomes clear just how devastating cigarettes can be to one’s complexion. Wrinkles and yellow teeth, after all, are not exactly what most fashion-forward men are going for.

Kicking the habit can be extremely difficult, although nicotine replacement therapy is helpful – especially the electronic cigarette. The best electronic cigarette for you is one that satisfies your cravings while helping you to finally kick nicotine to the curb. Don’t hesitate to do your research before making the switch because there is a lot to know about these types of products and you should feel comfortable with your decision.

Bad habits can be tough to get rid of, but once you realize what they’re doing to your physical appearance and health, you might just summon the necessary willpower.
