10 Bad Habits That Lead to Kidney Problems: Are You Being Kind to Your Body?

Back PainLiving a healthy life with a well-balanced diet and plenty of exercise has many benefits. There are multiple bad habits that can cause health problems such as kidney damage that people might not know about. In addition, the things people do to stay healthy and avoid one health problem can help avoid other problems. People can avoid having chronic kidney problems by avoiding bad lifestyle choices and adopting a healthy diet and plenty of exercise.

 Improve Kidney Function with Supplements

Everyone can make changes in their lifestyle and diet to insure future kidney health but what if there is already some kidney damage? If a person is worried about the health of their kidneys, they can make lifestyle and diet changes and use kidney support from Revive MD. These diet supplements are designed to keep kidneys healthy, repair damage, and improve kidney function.

Combine these supplements with an effort to stop bad habits and make better food and lifestyle choices to stop or even reverse kidney damage. The right kidney supplement can contribute to better blood flow and filtration levels in the kidneys. Natural supplements can be a safe way to counteract unhealthy kidney effects for both the short term and the long term. Be sure to seek medical advice before taking supplements. A doctor can determine if the supplements will work with medications being taken for other health conditions.

10 Bad habits That Hurt Kidneys

Since kidney damage happens over several years because of poor lifestyle and diet choices, it may not be noticeable until the damage starts building up. It is important to know what can damage kidneys and make changes to prevent damage from happening. These bad choices can cause multiple health problems, so avoiding them will contribute to improvement of a person’s overall health.

  1. Smoking is a bad habit that causes multiple health problems, including kidney damage, cancer, arteriosclerosis, respiratory issues, and heart problems.
  2. When the urge strikes to urinate, don’t delay. When people don’t urinate often enough, their bodies retain toxins meant to be expelled in the urine. This bad habit can lead to kidney stones, incontinence, and other kidney damage.
  3. Eating too many sugary foods can lead to or worsen diabetes and kidney or cardiorenal disease. Sugar found in candy, sodas, desert foods and highly processed snack foods can lead to kidney and other health problems. Eating too much salt can also damage kidneys and increase blood pressure. It is good to replace salt with healthier herbs and spices.
  4. Bad eating habits can lead to many health problems, including kidney diseases. Eating a healthy diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein can prevent health problems. But, once the kidneys are strained and damaged, treatment might include a diet with less phosphorus and potassium. Foods rich in these nutrients might need to be avoided until the kidneys are healed. Some foods that may be temporarily prohibited include oatmeal, nuts, bran cereals, lentils, meat, fish, poultry, colas, tomatoes, potatoes, bananas, and oranges.

Foods that are good for a kidney diet include fresh vegetables and fruits, rice milk, corn- and rice-based cereals, limited protein, white rice, pasta, heart-healthy foods, and other foods the doctor recommends. The doctor will likely give a patient with kidney problems a printed diet to follow. Over-processed foods contain too much phosphorus and sodium. Eating too much meat is not good for the kidneys because animal protein can generate too much acid in the blood and harm the kidneys.

  1. It is important to properly manage other health conditions and medications to avoid kidney damage. High blood pressure or hypertension is a major cause of kidney damage. Improper use of medication can lead to kidney damage. Painrelievers such as ibuprofen, aspirin and acetaminophen can all cause kidney damage if overused. Antibiotics fight bacteria and infections, but they can also damage kidneys.
  2. Being too sedentary and not exercising enough has been proven to cause kidney disease. The researchers don’t know exactly why being too sedentary impacts the kidneys, but there is proof that exercise and more physical activity improves blood pressure and glucose metabolism, which are necessary for kidney health. A good exercise regimen is good for general health and well-being. It is important to find the correct amount of exercise for you. Get a doctor’s guidance if there are other health problems to consider.
  3. Drinking too much alcohol, as in more than four drinks per day, will double a person’s chance of getting kidney problems. When a person is both a heavy drinker and a smoker, their chances of getting kidney disease go up by five times. There are real proven health benefits to quitting smoking and cutting down on drinking alcoholic beverages.
  4. Not drinking enough water causes dehydration and can lead to kidney stones and other kidney problems. Our bodies need plenty of water to help kidneys purge sodium and other toxins from our bodies. Most people need three to four pints of water or eight glasses of water every day. Sodas, alcohol, coffee, tea, or sugary fruit drinks do not count toward this goal.
  5. Lack of sleep can mess up the sleep-wake cycle that regulates kidney function and workload over the 24 hours of day and night. A good night’s sleep is important to overall health and well-being and to the kidneys.
  6. Neglecting health care screenings or that yearly check up can let health problems pile up. Get screened for all the common diseases and find out if any close relatives have had diseases such as heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, or kidney failure. Once you know the chances or risk of getting diseases, you can prevent them or treat them early.

It All Comes Back to Eating Right and Having a Healthy Lifestyle

Having a healthy lifestyle and eating right seems to be the keys to good general health and healthy kidneys. Since our body parts are interconnected, that makes sense. It is worth giving up bad habits and bad food choices and replacing them with healthier options. Exercise can be fun as well as healthy, and it gives people more energy. Every bad habit a person gives up makes their chances of staying healthy better.

Good article, thank you for these recommendations. Fortunately, there are clinics that can help you get rid of liver problems. For example, read Karma Ayurveda reviews – as an example of one of these places
