Located on the west coast of Florida, you’ll find the coastal city of Tampa. A college town by the bay that also boasts some neat Floridian history (Ybor city!) along with fun in the sun, Tampa has lots to see and do as well as eat ; )
My first stop was the Gourmet Pizza Company. I’m always in the mood for pizza when I travel and GPC did not disappoint With vegan cheese, pesto and gluten free crust options, I was able to cerate an awesomely topped vegan pizza as well as enjoy vegan, gluten free, garlicky bread sticks! A fun place for families and lots of fabulous options that will make your mouth order upon gazing at the menu, you’ll keep coming back to GPC!
For some light, clean and serene eats, Kalesia Tea Lounge is the place. With delicious vegan appetizers, sandwiches and yes, fabulous tea, this spot leaves you feeling happily full as well as relaxed. My personal fave is the set plate that comes with vegan spring rolls, the vegninni, vegan dessert and tea. Plus add in their yummy vegan soup and you’ll leave with a big smile on your face!
If you’re partying in Ybor City, a hot spot for dancing, drinking, partying and cuban cigars (as well as awesome Latino history), it’s a must to dine at Gaspar’s Grotto. I always have to have a Cuban meal when I’m in my home state and found Gaspar’s to be the perfect place to check that off my list in Tampa. Part historic conquistador themed, part fun outdoor bar and part yummy restaurant, I went to town on some fried yucca, black bean soup, tostones and a vegaized Florida Wrap. Yummo!
In search of a sweet treat to help you cool down? Look out for the Gone Bananas food trailer! Featuring vegan and organic frozen banana treats as well as vegan soft serve, it’s the perfect treat to beat the Florida heat!
With locations all across the globe, I thought I’d try out the Loving Hut in Tampa. I’m always excited to see what each location has as their special dish and I was super stoked to indulge in their ocean pasta! A “seafood” flavored, Alfredo type creamy pasta filled with veggies and vegan shrimp, it was so much fun to enjoy a dish that was perfect to try in Florida!
