vegan dubai healthy voyagerDubai really does have it all as a holiday spot. It’s the ultimate go-to destination when it comes to luxury. From its incredible ultra-modern skyline to pristine beaches, stunning shopping malls, and fascinating history, it’s a destination that never fails to inspire.

With so many different things to do in Dubai, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Here’s a quick guide to some of the best things to do on a holiday to Dubai.

  • Take in the view from the Burj Khalifa

As the number one attraction in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa stands at a staggering 828 metres in height and is a modern wonder of the world. It’s the tallest building on the planet and has been described as a ‘Vertical City’. It towers above the city skyline and observation decks allow visitors an unparalleled 360-degree view of the ocean on one side and the desert below. Along with the Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain, it’s one of the top attractions in Dubai to visit.

  • Shop until you drop at Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall has earned a reputation as one of the best places to indulge in some retail therapy anywhere on the planet. Here you’ll find some of the world’s biggest names such as Bulgari and Tiffany & Co, alongside unique local boutiques. There’s no shortage of places to eat and drink either, as well as a cinema complex, gaming zone, and ice rink.

  • Explore underwater worlds at Dubai Aquarium

There are always plenty of things to see and do in the Middle East, whether you enjoy being in the water or being on land. No family holidays to Dubai are complete without taking in the city’s incredible aquarium. Housing 140 species of sea life, you can find the attraction on the ground floor of the Dubai Mall. Entering the Underwater Zoo allows you to explore the aquarium tunnels. There are glass-bottom boat tours, and if you’re feeling particularly brave, you can even try cage snorkelling and shark diving.

  • Relax in a world-class spa

Dubai is rightly famed for its spas, offering a truly decadent mixture of ancient and modern. From Qua Spa, Caesars Palace Bluewaters to Cinq Mondes, Emerald Palace Kempinski, you’ll find different specialities but the same degree of luxury. If you’re feeling romantic, The Talise Spa at Burj Al Arab has become one of the world’s most dramatic places to pop the question.

  • Sample world cuisine

Dubai has some of the world’s leading restaurants, as well as establishments serving almost every cuisine on the planet. Nathan Outlaw brings his laid back approach to seafood at Al Mahara, while La Petite Maison in the city’s financial district serves classic Mediterranean dishes. For authentic Middle Eastern food, head to Al Hadheerah at The Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.

  • Sample the city’s history at the Al Fahidi Quarter

Built in the late 19th century, the Al Fahidi Quarter was once the home of wealthy Persian merchants. They were attracted to Dubai because of the opportunities for trade and the access it gave them to Dubai Creek. The traditional Arab architecture is evocative of days gone by, and here you can experience what life used to be like in the city.

  • Soak up the magic of the souks of Deira

You can put your haggling skills to the test in the souks of Deira. Here among the winding streets by Dubai Creek, you’ll find traditional Arab markets and a melting pot of cultures. The Gold Souk is one of the world’s largest gold markets, located in this heritage hotspot. In the Spice Souk, your senses will be overwhelmed by every kind of spice.

  • Take in some culture

There’s more to Dubai package holidays than luxury hotels, shopping, and sunshine; the city is also becoming one of the region’s leading cultural centres. Whether you are visiting Dubai for the first time or not, Brightsun.co.uk has some great holiday and flight deals so you can go and explore the Middle Eastern culture that Dubai has to offer. Dubai Opera stages world-class productions, and the Alserkal Art District is home to new and established galleries featuring cutting-edge art. You can also learn about the city’s history as a trading and cultural centre at the Crossroads of Civilizations Museum. To find out more about the cultural and maritime heritage of Dubai, visit the Heritage and Diving Village.

  • Get back to nature at the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

Close to the skyscrapers, but a world apart is the tranquil Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. Incorporating the wetlands and mangrove forests of Dubai Creek, it’s also a stopping off point for migrating flamingos.

  • Take a safari into the desert

Dubai is a miracle in the desert, and you can experience the awesome beauty of its surrounding desert landscapes on jeep safaris and camel rides. There’s a variety to choose from, with some operators also offering the chance to sandboard down the dunes.

  • Cool off at the Aquaventure Waterpark

Aquaventure Waterpark is based at Atlantis, The Palm on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, a man-made palm-shaped island. It’s the perfect place to splash around after a day spent hitting the shops or sightseeing. With world-class waterslides that rise to giddy heights and safe areas for small children to play in, this is a great place to spend some family time. There are even 700 metres of white sandy beach to enjoy.
