Sandpoint IdahoSandpoint is one of those attractive places that carries a lot of appeal when you are looking for a location that ticks all of the right boxes. It is a small city located in the state of Idaho and one thing you notice about it straight away is that it offers a suburban vibe but plenty of space to go with it.

When you see what beautiful Sandpoint Idaho homes for sale there are, you could be excused for getting excited because you might have found the perfect spot to live, work, and raise a family.

Want to know more? Here’s a look at some of the main pros and cons of living in Sandpoint.

Quality of life and other key livability factors

Everyone has a different view of what they want from a place and what they need for it to be just right. In terms of livability, Sandpoint scores above the national average when it comes to combining factors that most people are looking for.

When you take into account key factors such as cost of living, crime rates, educational facilities, and the overall happiness of residents, you will find that Sandpoint enjoys a livability score that is above the national average.

The cost of living in Sandpoint is actually lower than most other cities in Idaho, as well as being below the national average. That means important things like the cost of housing, utilities, groceries, and health care will cost less than many other places.

A great place to raise a family

When you look at what Sandpoint has to offer if you are looking to raise a family in the area you will see that the area has an average median age of 42, with an average family size of 3. What that tells you is plenty of young families have already decided that Sandpoint is a good place to grow their family.

What are the crime rates like in Sandpoint?

The bottom line when considering whether to move to a new area is that you want to know that you and your family are going to feel safe.

Sandpoint enjoys a lower crime rate than the national average. The total crime rate for the area is 24 per 1,000 people, which is below the national average. It’s the same story when you look at violent crime rates. Sandpoint’s rate is 1 per 1,000 people.

As with all areas, some neighborhoods might be safer than others, but at least you know that Sandpoint has a lower crime rate overall than the national average.

What are the negatives?

When it comes to pros and cons it is often a case of personal weighing where you decide which factors are most important to you. Sandpoint scores well in relation to key demographics such as affordability, crime rates, cost of living, and educational facilities.

One of the main things that you might not like is that it has such a small population size. This can sometimes create poor economic conditions compared to a much bigger city.

It all depends on what you believe to be important and what you are looking for when considering a move. All things considered, the positives far outweigh the negatives when it comes to deciding to move to Sandpoint Idaho.
