There is more to San Diego than beautiful beaches and glorious sunshine. It’s home to some of the most breath-taking sights, attractions, and landmarks in the United States, and there is something for every age.

Whether you are looking for the coolest districts or family-friendly entertainment, there will be a fun activity to try. If you are considering booking a trip to America’s finest city, here are the five best places to visit in San Diego.

Visit La Jolla

Make sure to visit La Jolla during a visit to San Diego County, because the seaside area offers breathtaking ocean views, a rugged coastline, and sandstone canyons at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. Foodies will also fall in love with the popular beach destination, as it offers fantastic waterfront restaurants that will complete your trip. Discover the best La Jolla restaurants for an unforgettable dining experience.

Experience Coronado Island

Coronado Island is a must-visit when in San Diego, as it offers one of the best beaches in the US, as well an atmospheric downtown that will make you want to stay forever. It’s the perfect place to stay if you want to escape the busier areas across San Diego and embrace a more relaxed, laid-back temperament. You can hang out a cool bar, take a stroll along San Diego Bay, or head off on a Coronado Walking tour to learn more about its intriguing history.

Make Your Way to Oceanside

If you want to stroll through a marina, explore different shops, and view superb works of art, make your way to Oceanside in San Diego County. It’s well-known for the palm tree-dotted Harbor Beach, as well as the beautiful Oceanside Pier that merges into the Pacific Ocean.

Passionate surfers should definitely visit the coastal city, as it offers the California Surf Museum that provides an insight into the sport’s history, and features extensive surfboard collections and world-famous surfer exhibitions. Art lovers should also visit the Oceanside Museum of Art, which displays paintings, drawings, and sculptures from across the region. However, if you simply want to restore your mind and body, you could always book an innovative cupping therapy treatment in Oceanside.

Don’t Miss Balboa Park

If there is one place you must visit in San Diego, it’s Balboa Park. The 1,200-acre urban park offers open spaces, gorgeous gardens, natural vegetation zones and many walking paths. It’s also home to numerous museums and theaters to suit all ages. The crown jewel of Balboa Park is, however, San Diego Zoo, which is home to more than 3,700 animals and 650 species and subspecies.

Drop into Embarcadero

You’ll fall in love with Embarcadero the minute you set your eyes on the pretty promenade, which is filled with seafood restaurants and fantastic souvenir shops. The old police command post, known as The Headquarters, is also filled with chic boutiques and eateries, which are popular with both tourists and locals. You can even book a boat tour around the harbor or ocean to spot whales.
