How to visit VersaillesWhen we talk about Paris, we refer to it as the City of Love and Romance. While that is true, one of the most underrated spots that people don’t pay much attention to are the castles around. Paris is more than just the Eiffel Tower. The castles around are perfect for those art and architecture geeks who love to relinquish the beauty of the medieval era. If you have been planning on visiting Paris, taking a day trip to Versailles is a must.

This palace is the biggest in the entirety of Europe and the grandeur of the place is what makes it such a sought after tourist spot that you can visit.

How to get to Versailles?

As we did mention before, Versailles is a perfect spot for taking a day trip to. It is located around 22 km away from the main city of Paris and makes up for an amazing sightseeing spot. This is why the Paris to Versailles day trip is the perfect addition to your itinerary.

If you like castles and the majestic feeling and history surrounding the same, this is an amazing spot to visit. Taking public transport around in Paris is a good way to commute. Not only does it cost less, but it is also quite amazing in terms of safety as well.

The trip from Paris to Versailles takes around forty-five minutes to an hour, depending on the traffic around. It is the RER C that you need to take from Paris to commute to Château de Versailles. If you are wondering about the tickets, they are available in the ticket office or even in the several machines that are available in the metro stations.

Once you reach the ticket office, purchase a ticket for Versailles Château-Rive Gauche where you need to deboard the train at the RER station. It is best suggested to get a round trip ticket if you don’t want to stay stuck in a long queue.

It is very important that you keep your ticket safe during the travel and not end up losing it through the process.

Once you follow through the arrows and reach the designated station that will take you to Versailles Château-Rive Gauche, you need to wait for the right train to come. Not every train will take you to Versailles, so make sure that you enquire from anyone around about which one will and then board the train.

When is the right time to visit?

The castle of Versailles is huge and will take you quite a lot of time to explore. This is the reason why you need to take a day trip and plan everything around the same.

The gates of the Château de Versailles open at 9 in the morning. The queue is sometimes very big, so try and reach early to avoid standing under the sun for a long time until your turn comes. Apart from the palace, there are several accessory things to do and places to see around but make sure that you keep them for the last.

Start with exploring the palace first. The best advice that one can give is to avoid visiting during the weekends because the rush is too bad.

Try and include this during the weekdays, Wednesday or Thursday being the best ones to add-in. Given that it’s the middle of the week, it is a lot less crowded and lets you enjoy the tour of the palace without any issues. To avoid further chaos, get the tickets for the palace online as well.

If you are planning on a day trip to Versailles, these are some of the important things to keep in mind.
