How To Choose Flowers For Your Destination Wedding

Summer Wedding OutfitsA destination wedding is the most romantic way of making your special day even more unforgettable for you and your guests. Planning such an event can get tricky at some point. However, the good thing is that there’s usually a wedding theme already decided for you.

Moreover, part of the preparation is putting personal touches on the details. These include choosing the perfect flowers to adorn the venue and highlight the event.

If you’re planning a destination wedding, hiring a local florist to do the floral décor can save you time and money. It’s also possible to work with a reputable florist who has experience and expertise to make your destination wedding more spectacular.

No matter what you choose to go for, here are some tips that could help you in your quest to select the perfect floral arrangements that’ll bring your dream destination wedding to life:

  • Set Your Budget

Weddings can make quite a dent in your bank account, and even when you’ve saved up for it, it pays to set a definitive budget for everything you need to spend. Doing so will ensure you won’t be going beyond the limit. A budget will also help you narrow down your options.

In addition, you might want to consider setting a parameter for your budget to spend on the wedding flowers. These include floral décor for the venue, bouquet for the bride, and beautiful bridesmaids bouquets for your girls.

On the other hand, it would help to prioritize the pieces that have the most significant impact. Consider what’s important to you when choosing which ones to emphasize. Do you want a lush floral arbor? If so, make it a priority in your budget.

Moreover, you should also think about how your flowers will look in wedding photos. Consider what images will most likely be included in your photographs and the kind of atmosphere you want for those images. After all, flowers add color and vibrance to any frame.

In addition, you can match the flowers at the ceremony site and the reception area where your guests will spend the most time. Then you can have a special set of flowers for the couple to add warmth to their photos.

  • Decide On A Color Scheme

Flowers come in a variety of colors. Wedding florists frequently provide flowers that are readily available or less expensive to give in large quantities. As a result, the flowers don’t go well with the dress code and décor. This is the last thing you’ll want when planning every detail of your wedding, right?

Therefore, make sure to decide on the wedding’s color scheme and décor. Work with your planner and florist so you can decide on which flower types and colors to choose to create the arrangements you want.

A beach wedding, for instance, usually goes perfectly with sky blue, sage green, blush, peach, and wisteria purple. You can pick one or a combination of two or more hues for a unique palette.

Likewise, you can match or contrast the color of your flowers with the wedding entourage. Should you decide to go for dark purple flowers, you can contrast their somber mood by mixing them with bright-colored blooms such as white or lime green.

  • Choose Your Bridal Bouquet Well

Another essential element to decide on is your most crucial wedding accessory—the bridal bouquet. Although you want it to be as beautiful as possible, take note that you want the bouquet to complement and not overpower your gown.

Your flowers will be in the spotlight in your wedding photos, so consider how they look against your dress. Any color will complement a white gown, but a matching white bouquet with lots of lush green undertones looks especially lovely.

On the other hand, pinks, oranges, and peaches contrast beautifully with a white and cream dress. If you have a colored wedding gown, use flowers in the various shades of the dress or a complementary color.

The larger the bouquet, the fuller the gown. A column dress looks great with a single stem rose, while a voluminous dress suits a larger bouquet with various blooms.

  • Consider The Weather

If you’re having a warm-weather wedding, opt for flower arrangements that can withstand extreme humidity and heat. Look into seasonal summer blooms since they’re more likely to tolerate hot temperatures. Steer clear of thin petals, such as hydrangeas, since they can’t hold their shape for long stretches of time.

Meanwhile, bulbs and tropical flowers such as dahlias, lilies, orchids, and bromeliads are exceptionally long-lasting, which are some of your best options if you prefer to use fresh blooms. Take note that floral arrangements that look picturesque on tables inside may not look as good outside, especially in warmer environments.

Final Words

Destination weddings are trendy because they’re interesting and one-of-a-kind. You get to create something truly unique by hiring skilled people and exchanging ideas throughout the planning stage.

So, whether the flowers are sourced locally or transported specifically for the occasion, remember to set your budget, consider the weather, decide on a color scheme, choose your bridal bouquet well, and most importantly, have fun!
