Helping to Watch Out for Hubby’s Health

Hubby healthIf you’ve got a hard working hubby in your life, it’s important to help him watch out for his health, especially as he gets older. You may already have a health nut on your hands, but chances are your guy isn’t as health-minded as would be ideal. It doesn’t take a lot of adjustments to help him make the changes that will make a long healthy life more attainable, but you’ve got to know what you’re doing. Here are some of the best ways to help him maximize his health today and tomorrow.

  1. Weight and Diet. Weight and fitness are one of the most important foundations upon which future health will be built. These are broad topics that relate to everything from gout to gynecomastia, and everything in between. Portion control and dietary composition are two of the best places to start. Even if we’re eating the right foods, it’s easy to get heavy if we eat too much. On the other hand, without healthy ingredients, even solid portion control tactics won’t result in the best possible health. As you’re adjusting a diet for or with your significant other, try to get him to add an age appropriate multi-vitamin. A morning smoothie made of fruits and vegetables can be another way to cram a lot of nutrition into an easy daily ritual. Do these healthy eating steps together and your husband or boyfriend will get a lot of benefits that you’ll also enjoy.
  2. Exercise and Fitness. Nobody can have the best possible health without exercising. Lots of guys aren’t in the habit of exercising, either because they never did it before, or because their lives are busy enough that it’s very difficult to make it to the gym. If you’re trying to get your guy to start from scratch in this regard, it’s important to do baby steps, and to facilitate exercise activities that are fun and enjoyable for him. Encouraging a regular basketball game with friends, trail running, biking through your city, or just some old fashioned weight lifting – habits like these are a great way to keep your body moving in tip top shape. A gym membership may be the gift that gets the ball rolling in this situation.
  3. Good Emotional Health. It’s hard to do the work you need for peak fitness if you don’t feel good about yourself. Mental health is hard for some men, as depression, anxiety, and self esteem issues take their toll. If you notice that your boyfriend or husband seems like he’s not feeling well on the inside, recommend a trip to the doctor or to a therapist, someone who can recommend treatment or talk therapy. This will make all the other steps of health so much easier to do.

There is a lot to being healthy and happy, and it can get tough to manage it all for men. Men still tend not to live as long as women, and this is largely because they don’t maintain themselves as well. So help you man along with some simple steps for health and happiness that will reward him his whole life long.
