That’s why Discover Ruidoso has partnered with Healthy Voyager’s Eat Like an Athlete™ Restaurant Program to help athletes and visitors find delicious, performance-focused meals throughout race week.

From July 6–13, 2026, participating restaurants throughout Ruidoso will feature specially selected Eat Like an Athlete menu items designed to help you prepare, perform, recover, and celebrate during the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso weekend.

A Community Effort Years in the Making

My partnership with Discover Ruidoso over the years has been one of the highlights of my career, and it’s an honor to once again collaborate with their incredible team to bring the Eat Like an Athlete program back for race week. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ruidoso’s passionate chefs and restaurant owners to showcase how healthy, flavorful dining can become part of the destination experience.

For this year’s IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso, I worked one-on-one with each participating restaurant to carefully identify menu items that deliver the ideal balance of carbohydrates, quality protein, healthy fats, and nutrient-rich ingredients to support endurance athletes during race week and  throughout every stage of their journey, from training and carb-loading before race day to recovery meals after crossing the finish line. We also wanted to ensure that spectators, family members, volunteers, and visitors could join in the experience by enjoying delicious, balanced meals all week long. And because Healthy Voyager has always believed that healthy eating should be inclusive, you’ll also find a variety of delicious plant-based and vegan-friendly options throughout the program, proving that performance nutrition can be both satisfying and accessible for everyone.

Fueling Beyond Race Day

Race nutrition doesn’t begin on the starting line.

Athletes know that proper nutrition starts days before competition and continues well after crossing the finish line. During Eat Like an Athlete Week, participating restaurants will offer menu items that support every stage of your race journey, including:

  • Carb-loading meals before race day

  • Balanced breakfasts to fuel morning training sessions
  • Fresh salads, bowls, and nutrient-dense entrées
  • Healthy grab-and-go options

More Than a Race, But A Weeklong Celebration

The inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Ruidoso is expected to welcome athletes and spectators from around the world as New Mexico hosts its first-ever IRONMAN-branded event. Race weekend takes place July 11–12, with the IRONMAN 70.3 race on Sunday, July 12, while the Eat Like an Athlete dining program runs all week, giving athletes plenty of opportunities to fuel before and after the event.
