kocabag-wines-cappadociaWine lovers are thrilled with the prospect of visiting a wine tasting event. They have their reasons. The demand for wine has been on a rise ever since ancient times. People have been increasingly consuming wine over the years, partly because of innovations in the wine industry and partly due to the rising income levels of individuals. This article provides an in-depth analysis of the things to keep in mind before attending a glorious wine tasting event.

What to Expect at a Wine Tasting Event?

Wine tasting events are generally classy affairs in seemingly grand locations. Cities like Houston, Ashland, Traverse City, Woodinville play host to thousands of wine enthusiasts every year. Not all events maintain a similar format though. It is wise to grasp a little information about the various types of wine tasting events that you may attend.

Most events involve the attendants moving around and taking sips of any drinks they feel like. These events provide a sense of freedom to wine tasters, unlike the events where a certain procedure has to be followed. However, these procedures are usually well-planned and rarely fail to impress wine lovers.

Finally, the smallest functions might involve the attendants being seated and served with drinks along with some light food. Houston has been playing host to some of the finest wine tasting events of this kind for years now. It is not hard to find these locations. Once you do, the following tips may come in handy before setting out for an evening of fine wine drinking.

Tip 1 – Skip Wearing Fragrance

A big part of tasting something is the smell we take in while at it. Fragrances and perfumes pose a risk of tainting the flavors of the wine to the consumer. This can blunt the senses in differentiating the subtle differences in some wines. Even a smoke session before tasting the wine can prove to be a hindrance while you are finding the intricacies of various wine flavors. Fellow tasters might also be unsettled as these colognes and fragrances usually emanate a strong aroma.

Tip 2 – Pre-Plan Your Visit

A good plan before visiting a wine tasting event can save you time and ensure a great experience. Most events provide information about the wines available prior to the affair. Enthusiasts should research the drinks they are about to taste as there might be a few they want to avoid and some they might crave to drink. A great variety of wines may be served at such events, some of which might be exotic and rare.

Tip 3 – Eat Before You Drink

The consequences of drinking with an empty stomach are not unknown to us. It is important not to get drunk after just a few sips of wine as there might be a whole assortment of drinks still untasted. Most wine tasting events in Houston serve food along with drinks, and it is advisable to take breaks between the wine tasting for food consumption. Remember to drink plenty of water as well. A high intake of alcohol might lead to dehydration, which could effectively ruin the party.

Tip 4 – Do Not Drive Home On Your Own

Drunk driving causes thousands of fatalities every year. It is highly recommended to bring a designated driver along or take a lift from someone at the event who remained sober, although it is unlikely. If neither is available, it is always a safe bet to take public transport home, rather than driving on your own.

Tip 5 – Use Those Buckets to Spit

Most wine tasting events have buckets across the arena for enthusiasts to spit or rinse into after tasting a particular wine. Although it might seem contrary to the concept, this surely is necessary. Tasting multiple drinks might cause an accumulation of flavors in the mouth, causing diminished tasting senses after each drink. A mild flavor might taste extremely bland on the tongue after finishing a rough drink. Remember to spit after consuming each sample of wine.

Tip 6 – Dress Wisely

Dressing for the event is very important. Choose an outfit that does not come in the way of a comfortable evening of drinking. It is wise to avoid carrying extra bags or equipment while in the process of roaming between tables. Chances are, one of your hands will be occupied with a glass of wine throughout the event. Some people might choose to take notes, and carrying a bag along with it can be challenging.

Tip 7 – Try New Flavors

Chances are, some of the fine wine on display at an event are rare flavors and might not be available in other locations. Houston hosts multiple events all year round, providing us access to some of these rare wines. Unfamiliar brands should be exciting for wine tasters. Wine producers are eager to display their best products on these occasions. Who knows, a random new drink might turn out to be the most preferred drink for a fanatic in the long run.

Tip 8 – Be Ready for Red-Wine Teeth

Drinking red wine can stain your teeth red. After finishing a drink, be sure to rinse your mouth with water or consume food so that the dye is somewhat washed away. Chewing gums are a great solution to this but might interfere with your taste buds once you are ready to taste some wine again.

Tip 9 – Take Photos If Allowed

Wine tasting events are sensational sources of knowledge as well. Think of all the different wine flavors and brands that are generally on display. If the organizers allow, it is a great idea to take photos of some of the finest gems in the collection. You may forget the taste of most, but the photos will remain and can be shared with friends for future recommendations.

Tip 10 – Take Your Time

Lastly, it is wise to take matters slow on these occasions. After all, you would be drinking alcohol. Rushing things can get you drunk before you want. Take breaks between sips, be jovial with the other attendants, and enjoy an evening of classy pleasure.

Wrapping Up

To some, wine tasting events are a sign of aristocracy. Many people look forward to such events throughout the year. It is indeed a fun occasion where people congregate to drink and share knowledge. It is totally different from a visit to the bar. Here, it is more about the taste and variety rather than the quantity. Going to a wine tasting event can be eye-opening for someone who is yet to experience it.

You know, I’m also fond of drinking wine as it helps to restore my organism. Accordingly, recently I decided to order wall wine rack so I could install it in the house and use it comfortably. I assume it’s quite reasonable to have it I’ll order a vault like this and keep the wine in it. I recommend you do this as it is really convenient.
