what to put on skinThe pituitary gland isn’t known as a master gland for nothing. It regulates your hormonal system. Here’s an overview of hormones released by pituitary gland.

The pituitary gland, otherwise known as the master gland, is responsible for and involved in many of the body’s main processes. There are some critical functions of the hormones released by pituitary gland.

In this article, we are going to provide you with all of the information that you need to know when it comes to the pituitary gland how it works within the body. Continue reading to learn about why the pituitary gland is essential to you and your body.

What Is The Pituitary Gland?

The pituitary gland is a gland that can be found near the brain and behind your nose. It is a crucial part of the endocrine system, and its responsibility is to secrete hormones into your bloodstream.

The hormones that are secreted to your bloodstream are responsible for aiding the functions of the reproductive organs, thyroid, and the adrenal glands. The pituitary gland is attached to a structure called the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus helps to control and balance your body functions. The hypothalamus regulates the hormones that are secreted from the pituitary glands to the rest of the body.

Hormones Released By Pituitary Gland

There are several hormones released by the pituitary gland. Each of these hormones has it’s own specific function within the body.

Growth Hormone

This hormone helps to regulate the rate at which a person grows and develops throughout their life. This hormone targets growth within the muscles and bones, but can stimulate tissue growth as well.

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone

This hormone is responsible for causing your thyroid to release hormones. The hormones released by the thyroid help to regulate your metabolism.

Adrenocorticotropic Hormone

This hormone helps your adrenal glands to produce other hormones. The hormones produced by your adrenaline gland are cortisol and various other hormones.

Female Hormones

Several hormones are controlled by the pituitary gland. Such as the follicle-stimulating hormone that helps with the release of estrogen that aids in the growth of eggs. It also helps men with sperm production.

Other female hormones include:

  • Luteinizing which helps to produce estrogen in women and also testosterone in men
  • Prolactin which gives women the ability to produce milk to breastfeed

These hormones are essential in helping women carry life in their womb and supporting that life once the baby has been born.

Endorphins and Enkephalins

These act as a means of pain relief within the body. This hormone is also responsible for the pleasure that can be felt in certain situations. Enkephalins are closely-related to endorphins and act similarly in that they aid in pain relief.

You must pay attention to these hormones because reduced hormone levels can cause slower growth rates as well as contribute to a slower metabolism. If you aren’t sure about the hormone levels, we encourage you to try this test and get your sermorelin results.

The Wrap-Up

Hormones released by pituitary gland are vital when it comes to helping your body function properly daily. It is essential to your growth, ability to control pain relief, and much more.
