sleep hypnosisThese days, the importance of a good night’s sleep is underestimated. Some of the benefits of sleeping well include improved productivity and concentration, a better physical state, and it can even decrease the risk of certain health problems such as strokes and cardiovascular disease. As our lives become busier and more complicated, many of us are sleeping less and our quality of sleep has decreased too. Due to these changes in our sleeping habits, many companies have taken the opportunity to develop sleep aid technologies to help us sleep the way we should. If you feel like you aren’t getting enough sleep or your quality of sleep has lessened, then here are some of the newest innovations in sleep technology.

Sleep Sensors

Sleep sensors are small devices that are placed under the bedsheets. Here, they monitor a number of parameters, like the different stages of sleep, your heart and respiration rate, and more. You can also connect these sensors up to your home. Once connected, the sensors will be able to detect changes and adjust your environment to ensure you have a better sleep. Most sensors will be activated once you go to bed, so you don’t have to worry about turning them on every night. Some also connect to your smartphone, so you can save and upload any data to a healthcare professional.

Smart Beds

Yes, you can now get a smart bed to join your smart device collection. A smart bed can sense changes and automatically adjust itself to keep you and whoever you share your bed with, get the best sleep. It changes position and moves whilst monitoring your sleeping position. It also detects sound such as snoring and adjusts the snorer’s position (by raising their head) to stop them. If snoring is a major issue in the bedroom, then there are a few different products to reduce snoring available, such as mouth strips by Somnifix. These adhesive strips can stop your snoring (or your partners snoring), which will improve your sleep quality.

Sleep Inducers

There are a number of sleep apps available for your smartphone. Some help to relax you using certain sounds. These help with people who struggle to fall asleep and can improve their quality of sleep too. If smart technology isn’t your thing, then acoustic wall plugs may be a good alternative. There are also apps that help people induce sleep by performing breathing exercises. 2breathe’s sleep-inducing breathing app is an example. A sensor is worn by the user and the inhale and exhale movements are sent via Bluetooth to the iOS app. The app then transforms the breathing into tones that help to guide the users breathing to induce sleep. This process will continue until they have fallen asleep.

App-Controlled Mattress Coolers

Overheating is an extremely common cause for a bad night’s sleep and different materials don’t stop it. To help reduce this issue, you can purchase a cooling mattress. A mattress topper is a good option if you don’t need to replace your whole mattress. Most cooling mattresses use a water-based system to control the mattress temperature. Some of the more modern toppers can now be controlled using an app on your smartphone or device. This new innovation collects data and from this, the ideal temperature can be determined and can be adjusted throughout the night, according to your personal sleep cycle.

These are just some of the new innovations that have recently entered the sleep-quality market. As time goes on and as our sleep worsens, these technologies are vital to ensuring we stay healthy and get the right amount and the right quality of sleep. The bedroom has a lot of technology heading its way, which is something we will all sleep on!
