The typical medications that are available out there for treating allergies are a little bit questionable.

Usually, they are more expensive than necessary and you can never be 100% certain what kind of ingredients you’ve got in there.

When it comes to minor health issues such as seasonal allergies, it’s always a good idea to search for natural solutions before resorting to medication anyway.

If you have a diffuser in your home, as well as the right mix of essential oils, you can fill the air with your own form of medication.

Diffusers from Revive may not be something that you’ve heard of before, but they are a very useful device that will spread oil particles around your home.

You can get them in a variety of different designs and it’s also not that difficult to make your own if you feel like doing a bit of DIY.

We will be giving specific dosages for each oil in our blends, but this could change depending on the size of the diffuser.

See this list from Complete Home Spa to determine how many drops you will actually need for your diffuser.

In terms of which essential oils you should use, it’s good to have a mix. Before we get into some specific blends, let’s talk about a few of the oils that appear frequently in this list.

Peppermint

Peppermint oil has been used for years and years as a medicinal herb as well as to enhance a lot of recipes.

It’s been known to calm the mind and relieve feelings of stress and anxiety. The presence of menthol helps increase blood flow to relieve headaches and swelling.

Menthol is also effective in improving the perception of your nasal passages, allowing for air to move more freely through said passages.

Lemon

Whether it’s in the form of juice or oil, lemon is also very popular and it has several of its own benefits worth mentioning.

It’s packed with a variety of vitamins which makes it great for boosting your immune system as well as warding off coughs and sore throats.

It’s also astringent and detoxifying and so it could prevent the bacteria that contributes to your allergies from surviving in the air of your home.

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus has some strong antimicrobial properties and has been used to treat a bunch of respiratory illnesses including variations of strep and influenza.

You will also find it present in some of the more common over-the-counter sore throat treatments like lozenges and vapor rubs.

The benefits are backed up by quite a few studies and if you want something that guarantees reliability then the reputation of eucalyptus speaks for itself.

Tea Tree

It’s no secret that tea tree oil is great for treating skin conditions like acne and hives and is frequently used in popular skin creams.

But a big part of the reason why it’s so effective for this purpose is because it’s a strong anti-inflammatory.

Inflammation is a major cause of a lot of the problems you will deal with when you experience allergies. Nasal congestion being a big one that tea tree oil can help alleviate.

Mixing some of these oils with some other anti-inflammatories and relaxants such as rosemary and lavender make for some great recipes. Here’s 5 blends for you to try:
