5 Services that Will Help You Stay Accountable for Your Health

healthy summerLife gets in the way, especially when it comes to taking care of ourselves. From overly packed schedules to laziness, it’s extremely easy to let ourselves go and to put our health on the back burner. Thankfully there are services available to help you stay accountable for your health.

Here are 5 to consider.

1. Online Prescription Delivery Services

Everyone has good intentions of filling and taking their prescriptions, but sometimes life gets in the way. From a late work day to having to pick up the kids earlier than expected, certain plans can make it hard to get the pharmacy. In turn you may end up missing a few days of your prescription or forgetting to pick it up altogether.

If you’re looking for a super convenient way to ensure that you have access to the medications you need, consider online prescription delivery. With this type of service, you can fill your prescriptions online and have them delivered to your front door. Most companies including Medly Pharmacy allow you to fill your prescription and have it delivered the same day.

By using an online prescription delivery service, you never have to worry about standing in line or going out of your way to stop at the local pharmacy.

2. HealthTap

The average adult should visit the doctor at least once every six months. But we all know that going to the doctor is a huge inconvenience. There’s nothing worse than sitting in a packed waiting room with people who are sick. The experience is even worse if you’re due for vaccinations or a mildly invasive screening (we’re looking at you, colonoscopy). If you hate going to the doctor, there’s an app for that.

Using HealthTap, you can get help from doctors around the clock. The app offers access to more than 111,000 doctors that are available for diagnostic services, prescriptions, referrals, and more. The app uses video and text-based services to offer two-way communication between doctor and patient.

3. MyFitnessPal

Excess weight is a problem in today’s world. In fact, more than 34% of U.S. adults are overweight and more than 35% are obese. The problem also impacts the younger generations as around 32% of children are overweight or obese. For many losing weight isn’t easy because there’s no accountability. Saying you want to lose weight and actually doing it are two different things.

If you’re looking for a way to keep yourself accountable while also having many tools at your discretion that will help you lose weight, consider using MyFitnessPal. This is a mobile app and website that makes it much easier to shed excess weight. The app allows you to track your food, to include total calories and macronutrients along with your daily exercise.

Using this app you can determine how many calories you’re eating versus how many you’re burning. With these numbers you can change how much you eat or how long you workout to get the scale moving in the right direction. MyFitnessPal also offers support groups, informative blogs, and before and after pictures to keep your accountable and motivated

4. Sleep Cycle

Did you know that two in five Americans don’t get the recommended seven hours or more of sleep each night? A lack of sleep not only leaves you feeling mentally and physically drained, a consistent lack of sleep increases the risk of many other health issues such as obesity, diabetes, poor heart health, and even memory issues.

If you want to know how long and how well you sleep each night, there’s an app called SleepCycle that you’ll want to try. The app is an alarm clock on steroids. It tracks many factors including:

  • How long you sleep
  • How long it took you to fall asleep
  • The best time to wake up

With this app you can get an idea of how well you’re sleeping. Unlike the traditional alarm clock, SleepCycle is able to determine the best time to pull your out of your nighttime snooze by waking you during your lightest sleep phase.

By using this app, you can wake up feeling more rested. It will also keep you accountable to help you try to get to bed earlier and stick to a solid sleep schedule so that your lack of sleep isn’t impacting your overall health.

5. Happify

Everyone deals with negative emotions from time-to-time such as depression, anxiety, and stress. But, recurring negative emotions and thoughts can have a serious impact on your health. If you’ve been feeling down and out for some time, an app called Happify may be able to help. The app offers a wide range of features including games and activities to elevate happiness along with guided relaxation and meditation.

Happify allows you to track your progress over time and offers personalized tracks that are sure to uplift you to a happier mental and emotional state.

Conclusion

No matter your age, staying on top of your health is important. Since traditional healthcare services can be quite inconvenient, consider using these 5 services to keep yourself accountable for staying healthy inside and out.
