fitness bootcampCould 2018 be the year that you find your new exercise obsession? Take a look at these inventive ways to work up a sweat that are guaranteed to deliver rapid results. Fitness has never been this fun.

1. Ballet–inspired workouts are not just a great way to tone your muscles, increasing length and flexibility but a new barre-cardio mix is replacing the traditional classes and inspiring a new generation to take up this technically challenging art form. The added cardio component guarantees to target your body’s key muscle groups and get your heart pumping. This high-intensity, fast-paced work out is sure to have you feeling the burn and like a ballerina in no time.

2. Parkour remains unparalleled in its ability to upgrade your physical performance, using just your own body weight. It is a highly technical sport and involves incorporating a number of physical moves in tandem, from running to climbing to vaulting and to rolling. It is inspired by aspects of military training and martial arts and provides the unique opportunity to engage several muscle’s at once, whilst developing posture and stamina. There will be an official parkour training ground in your area and is searchable online, providing you all the excitement of the sport in a safe environment with experienced experts.

3. Forget the treadmill; the elliptical trainer is where it’s at. This low impact method of training allows you to focus on protecting your joints from damage whilst building up a sweat.  The Bowflex Max Trainer is the perfect piece of equipment that meets all of your elliptical needs. It offers a total body work out whilst reducing stress on the legs; something a traditional treadmill lacks and combines the benefits of HIIT with swimming making for an intense sweat session. Some reviews of the Bowflex Max Trainer can be found by following the link.

4. Competition-based classes are gaining ground with some studios providing team-building fitness fun, in “workouts” featuring games such as ‘capture the flag’. This type of exercise is perfect for groups of friends and colleagues who are looking to bond and build camaraderie in an exciting and high energy environment. Teams can track their performance and battle it out against opposing groups for the ultimate title.

5.  Yoga is one of the oldest forms of exercise with the physical and mental benefits of the practise being widely praised, it increases flexibility, protects from injury, balances metabolism and improves energy and vitality. There are many different types of yoga that are practised throughout the world, from Ashtanga to Bikram all with their own unique styles and techniques. From basic poses such as the plank and the bridge to the more advanced poses of the firefly and the scorpion. Yoga is for all levels of fitness and can be a way of easing yourself gently back into exercise following a break or as a way to recover following an injury. Its popularity has remained strong and is anticipated to continue well into 2018.
