Motherhood is one of the busiest roles anyone can take on. It gets even more hectic when you are a career woman as well. Trying to master a balance between these two roles, while also making time for yourself can seem like an impossible task, but it isn’t. Making the changes your life needs in order to be balanced can be tough, but with the help of your friends and loved ones, you can change your life around so that not only do you have time for your kids and for work, but you also have time for your friends and you have time for yourself. Start by following these tips:
- Drink More Water, Less Caffeine
It can be hard to get through your full day without a cup of coffee, but coffee also dehydrates you and will cause you to crash (not to mention that pesky caffeine addiction that you can develop); overall, you are better off without it. Instead of making yourself a cup of coffee in the morning, drink a glass (or two) of water. Water helps your body function properly, and that includes your brain. That is why drinking water can help reduce headaches, it can help you wake up, and it can help you be more alert.
2. Healthy Eating for the Whole Family
When you want to eat healthier, it can be difficult if you are the only one on board. Instead, update everyone’s eating habits. Bring your children in on the cooking process and you’d be amazed at how open they are to trying the food that they helped make themselves. Find new, inventive recipes to get them to eat healthier. Start by cutting out foods high in sugar and fat, and work from there.
3. Add More Exercise to Your Day
Being a mother can be hectic, and you might feel like you are running around after your little ones all day long, but you should aim to add more exercise to your day regardless. Take your kids to the park, go on walks with them, and even do a fun activity with them like swimming. Not only will this give them the exercise they need to be healthy (and tire out afterwards), but it will also help you stay fit and looking great.
4. Tackle Insecurities
The best way to keep yourself feeling great, is to spend your free time battling any insecurities you may have. Rather than settle with what you have, make the changes that’ll turn you into a happier person. Being a mother may mean you have less free time, but it doesn’t mean you cannot better yourself. If you have a problem with hair loss, then buy hair restoration products; if you want to do more exercise, then buy a yoga mat and practice yoga in your front room or head to the gym. Finding the time to be the person you want to me means you’re able to be a happier individual who can also be a better mother.
Balancing your life can be incredibly difficult, but changing your lifestyle around so that you are healthier is a great place to start. Work from there and aim to see your friends more often (especially other mothers), and even save some time for yourself to relax. Do this, and you’ll be a better mother, a better friend, a better employee, and a better you.
