But if we’re being honest, there’s really one main thing that can make or break a wedding: the food. While it’s true that 40% of engaged couples are looking for venues that better fit their personalities, couples are also beginning to choose food that aligns with their personalities and values as well. And with more and more people switching to the vegan lifestyle, wedding food is too. So if you and your sweetheart are vegans, here are a few awesome recipes to consider for your big day.

Vegan Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese is undoubtedly one of the best foods. And with 67% of millennials saying they enjoy ordering healthy food when they’re out to eat, more people are looking for alternatives to traditional mac and cheese. This mac and cheese is tasty and creamy like traditional dishes, but healthier and free of animal products. To make six servings of this recipe (adjust to the size of your guest list) you’ll need:

  • 16 oz pasta
  • 1/4 vegan butter
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 cups non-dairy milk
  • 8 oz vegan cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/2 tsp white pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegan parmesan

Fortunately, mac and cheese is super easy to make even if it’s vegan. Simply boil the pasta, drain the water, mix in all the ingredients, and you have a super delicious mac and cheese all of your guests will love.

Sweet Potato Bites

Appetizers are a must-have for all weddings, and these sweet potato and avocado bites are the perfect option. Packed with plenty of flavors and a variety of ingredients, your guests, vegan or not, are sure to love them. This recipe makes 20-25 pieces and you’ll need:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, sliced
  • 1/3 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 1/2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup radish sprouts
  • 5 cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 large avacado
  • 1/4 cup lime juice

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and combine the sweet potato slices, cumin, paprika, olive oil, and sea salt. Put the sweet potato slices on a baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes. Top with avacado, lime juice, tomato slices, and radish sprouts — and enjoy!

Vegan Vanilla and Berry Cake

If you’re looking for the perfect wedding dessert, look no further. With food and beverage sales increasing to $766 billion in 2016, it’s no secret that wedding cakes can be quite expensive. But this vegan cake it easy to make and can please all of your guests. This recipe can make about 14 servings and requires:

  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup sunflower oil
  • 3 1/2 cups almond milk
  • 2 cups caster sugar
  • 4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 tbsp maple syrup

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine all of your ingredients, starting with the wet ingredients and adding in the dry ones as you’re mixing. Separate between the cake tins for however many layers you’d like. While the cake layers are baking, mix together 1 cup of vegan butter, 1 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 1 cup of fresh raspberries. Once the cake layers have cooled, stack them and put the berry frosting in between. Decorate with additional frosting and accents to your liking!
