Corfu GreeceAre you looking for a place to retire? Corfu might be the destination with all the things you need. The island has homely people, good weather, history, cultural heritage, and exceptional cuisine. You’ll also be close to ancient architectural landmarks and sites, and the beaches as well. Here are five reasons why Corfu is the ideal place for your retirement.

Cost Of Living Is Moderate

The law says you must show evidence that you’re earning at least $2,000 every month before you become a permanent residence in Corfu. With this money, you’ll be able to rent an apartment in the city, settle bills, feeding, and other things. It’s quite reasonable to compare it with London and New York, where you need at least $3,000 a month to live in the city centers. Corfu is also a great place to invest in properties. You can purchase a property on the island from between $22,000 to $90,000, depending on what you want. If you’re in search for a home in Corfu, visit rrcorfurealestate.com.

Not Over-Crowded

Corfu is the ideal place for a peaceful retirement. The villages provide you with all the necessary amenities you need to live a decent and first-world life. Even when you go to the cities, the crowd is not as much as what you have in Manchester, Paris, or Rome. With fewer crowds, you’ll enjoy more alone time at the beach, visit historical centers as much as you want, and live the lifestyle of Greeks.

Cheaper Healthcare

There are two primary hospitals in Corfu, working 24 hours. Healthcare cost on the island is cheap and standard, like most developed countries. You would need to have already medical insurance to live in Greece. Once you become a residence, you can get rid of the insurance and opt for the local alternative, which is usually cheaper and still very efficient.

Food And Drinks

Corfu follows the same tradition of Greece cuisine, which is a healthy Mediterranean diet of meat, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Most of the ingredients for making the food are grown on the island, so they have no pesticides. For cooking, fresh fish is always available at a very affordable price, and you can get seafood varieties to make quality delicious meals. When you want to eat out, the island has quality restaurants and bars, where you will get access to an incredible menu with great meals. Join A Global Community Of Retirees

People from around the world, including Europe, North America, Asia, and so on, come to Corfu for their retirement. Once you become a citizen, you’ll be able to join a community of expats and retirees. They speak English mostly in Corfu so that language won’t be an issue. As a community member, you can join local groups when planning community events, festivals, and holiday activities. You’ll also meet tourists and become a host to thousands of people from all over the world to enjoy the island’s natural values.

Thank you. Didn’t know that definition of “homely”. @ Chuffed57:

@ Ramsey: in British English, “homely” means the same as “homey” in American English. It does not mean ugly.

Oh, but it was actually Mandy Patinkin’s character Iñigo Montoya who said that.

Goes to show — we all make mistakes!

    Um…. “…The island has homely people, …”?

To quote André the Giant’s character Fezzik, in The Princess Bride:

“I do not think that means what you think it means.”

Or at least I sure hope it does not.
